I've said it before, but worth saying again, drop Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. It's not worth being spied on. Zuckerberg and his company aren't worth giving away your privacy.

They have access to your pictures (your own, family and friends), records detailing your age, education, places of work and immediate family/friends network. The crazy part is that members of Facebook (the general public that signs up) do all the heavy lifting for the company by doing the actual categorizing of information for them. You sign up under the guise of having a great networking tool, but ultimately you're giving away your right to privacy. The shit you've posted up belongs to Facebook.

In WhatsApp, they have collected detailed records of every "private" conversation you've ever had. Ever cheated on your partner? Facebook has detailed records of every conversation, nude picture and sexual video you've ever sent. Ever spoken about illegal matters through WhatsApp? Facebook has records of that. Ever sent a family member details for your bank account, credit card or checking card through WhatsApp? Facebook has records of that. Ever spoken to family about how you despise certain government groups? Facebook has records of that.

Ever purchased illegal drugs through Instagram (weed and the such)? Facebook has records of that. Do you like to follow your favorite male/female escorts on Instagram to check out almost-nude pictures? Facebook has records of that.

Everyone who uses Facebook's products is voluntarily surrendering their right to privacy. If an entity ever needed a perfect backdoor entry to everyone's private affairs, Facebook is the perfect answer to that. All they have to do is collect and surrender that information to whatever entity requests it in exchange for money or some other benefit.

This whistleblower bullshit was likely a distraction. I highly doubt that some random employee just decided to lift the covers off of Facebook's dastardly plans and immediately ended up on 60-minutes (of all shows) with an immediate hearing in congress. What's worse, from some of the soundbites I gathered via congressmen interviews, it almost seems like they gave Facebook an an odd "ultimatum". Either work with congress or have congress stand up against you. Not quite sure what "working with congress" entails.

Zuckerberg can go fuck himself.

On an unrelated note, has anyone else found these two to have an eerily similar appearance?

Just above my post, someone posted a meme showing a string of people whose lives were upended by whistleblowing. I get the point they were poorly attempting to make, so how is it suspicious that she would take steps to protect herself ?

And it's hilarious that the person who started this thread has posted around 5 tiktoks in the last few days, an app with a way more egregious censorship problem, undeniable ties to the chinese govt and was almost banned from operating in America by his messiah president.  ::)

Sure, but do you do anything else to stay private? Like Tor browser? I mean google tracks you as well, the US government requests lists of people searching certain key words and google gives it to them. So if you are logged into a google account you are compromised when using google.

I have Tor browser but it's a bit slower so out of laziness I don't use it. I have sent some compromising stuff through Facebook messenger as well  ::) :'(

Why I Just Sued Facebook
October 6, 2021

I just sued Facebook.

I didn’t want to sue. I hate lawsuits. I tried for a year to reach someone at Facebook to fix things, but Facebook wouldn’t.

Here’s the problem: Facebook uses “independent fact-checkers” to try to reduce fake news on their site.

That’s a noble goal.

Unfortunately, at least one Facebook “fact-checker” is a climate-alarmist group that cleverly uses its Facebook connections to stop debate.

Facebook is a private company. It has every right to cut me off.

But Facebook does not have the right to just lie about me, yet that’s exactly what Facebook and its “fact-checker” did. That’s defamation, and it’s just wrong.

My video this week shows videos that Facebook throttled.

The defamation started with the fact-checker, a group called Climate Feedback. They didn’t like that my video reported facts suggesting that government mismanagement probably played a bigger role in causing California’s wildfires than climate change.

Climate Feedback got Facebook to censor this as “misleading” and link to a page that still declares the following quote misleading: “Forest fires are caused by poor management. Not by climate change.”

As if that were something I said.

But I didn’t! I never said that.

In fact, I said: “Climate change has made things worse. California has warmed 3 degrees.”

I’ve worked at NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox. All would have fired me if I falsely attributed a quote!

I emailed Climate Feedback’s editor. She didn’t respond. But two of three scientists listed as their “reviewers” agreed to interviews.

Stefan Doerr of Swansea University surprised me by saying he’d never even watched my video!

“If this is implying that we have reviewed the video,” said Doerr, “this is clearly wrong.”

Another reviewer, Zeke Hausfather of The Breakthrough Institute, hadn’t seen the video either. “I certainly did not write a Climate Feedback piece reviewing your segment.”

After he watched it, I asked, “Is (misleading) a fair label?”

“I don’t necessarily think so,” he replied. “While there are plenty of debates around how much to emphasize fire management versus climate change, your piece clearly discussed that both were at fault.”

Still, neither Climate Feedback nor Facebook will change their smear.

Then things got worse. I re-aired a video on climate change myths titled “Are We Doomed?”

Three climate scientists argue that we are not “doomed” because we can adapt to climate change. They invited climate alarmists to debate them. None would.

Climate Feedback got Facebook to throttle that video, too, and declare it “partly false.” Why?

Only one of their reviewers agreed to an interview.

Patrick Brown of San Jose State University didn’t like that my video suggests America can adjust to rising sea levels. He claimed sea levels could rise 200 feet.

“You’re citing an extreme,” I point out. “The (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) doesn’t consider that likely.”

“I don’t know if they assess sea level rise out to 1,000 years,” he responds.

They don’t.

It’s absurd that Facebook lets Climate Feedback censor me over something that might happen in 1,000 years.

Climate Feedback also cited my video for questioning the claim that hurricanes have gotten stronger.

But Brown, Climate Feedback’s own reviewer, said, “That’s wrong that you were criticized for saying that… The IPCC (doesn’t) claim that (hurricanes)… are increasing.”

Later, Brown told us I was cited for “omission of contextual information, rather than specific ‘facts’ being ‘wrong.'”

So, their “fact-check” wasn’t about actual facts?

Still, they rated my video “partly false,” which Facebook defines as content that “includes some factual inaccuracies.” My video did not contain any factual inaccuracies, and they know it.

Climate Feedback and its parent group, Science Feedback, use Facebook to censor lots of responsible people, such as science writers John Tierney, Michael Shellenberger and Bjorn Lomborg.

Facebook has every right to choose who can use its platform.

But Facebook does not have a legal right to knowingly and recklessly lie about what I say. That’s defamation.

I hope my lawsuit will make them think twice about doing it again – to me or to anyone else.

Not surprised the point would fly right over your head. How many threads about  facebook censorship have I started? How many threads about the chinese government have I started?  How many tik toks have I posted? You fucking know that the picture in your opening post has nothing to do with political censorship or "wokeness".  it has everything to do with a large media service that has an under-resourced user support system coupled with a massive userbase, many of whom would not have the integrity to stop using it even if they thought it was fundamentally unfair and a puppet of an evil government so long as it kept showing them videos of Kai Greene dancing.

Let me let you in on a little secret. If you’re on FB, IG, WhatsApp, Pinterest or almost any social media platform, you’re compliant as well with absolutely nothing to say. Yep, I’m on all of them and only one is a personal page and that my personal FB page where I post personal content. The rest of the platforms are all business. I’ve said this a million times. It’s almost impossible nowadays to have a business without the marketing technology of social media. In that sense social media especially FB, IG and TikTok are EXCELLENT marketing platforms. But I will say the shit they censor on a political level is absurd and I know their agendas which I why I don’t post anything political on my 4-5 business pages

They could easily be charged with penal code 631 PC given that access to Facebook and these other sites requires passwords which inherently defines them as private communications. Get a class action suit and put an end to this shit.

631 PC states that:

“(a) Any person who, by means of any machine, instrument, or contrivance, or in any other manner, intentionally taps, or makes any unauthorized connection, whether physically, electrically, acoustically, inductively, or otherwise, with any telegraph or telephone wire, line, cable, or instrument, including the wire, line, cable, or instrument of any internal telephonic communication system, or who willfully and without the consent of all parties to the communication, or in any unauthorized manner, reads, or attempts to read, or to learn the contents or meaning of any message, report, or communication while the same is in transit or passing over any wire, line, or cable, or is being sent from, or received at any place within this state; or who uses, or attempts to use, in any manner, or for any purpose, or to communicate in any way, any information so obtained, or who aids, agrees with, employs, or conspires with any person or persons to unlawfully do, or permit, or cause to be done any of the acts or things mentioned above in this section, is punishable by a fine not exceeding two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500), or by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding one year, or by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170, or by both a fine and imprisonment in the county jail or pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170.”

You can extrapolate that even further. Your internet provider has every search and site you have ever been on. Apple has every message and facetime you have ever sent. That goes for other phone providers too. Unless you use a VPN you have zero privacy and it's all recorded forever.

I use a VPN at home. Aside from that, here's what I also do to have added privacy:

Mainly use Onion browser at home, which uses TOR.

For messaging purposes, I utilize the Signal app. It doesn't have as nice of an interface as Facebook messenger or WhatsApp, but it works just fine.

I don't use Google to search for anything, nor do I use a Gmail account anymore. For email purposes I use either Protonmail or Hushmail. DuckDuckGo is my search engine.

I work in marketing and advertising. I have posted many times on here about the pros of social media in promoting business, how it is important for small businesses and answered peoples questions about how the world of influencing works and why it's not as ridiculous as older generations tend to think it is. You posting tik toks about Kai Greene and Jason Statham here doesn't promote your business, it is you using the app recreationally, which for some reason, you can't admit. I didn't say that you must either love everything about facebook or leave it (which, incidentally, is a line of logic you've used in regards to anyone who criticizes anything about our government- as long as it's a complaint you don't agree with.) What I did say is that you post all of this bullshit and end up being one of the most aggressive promoters of the app that is most egregious when it comes to nearly every con and probably don't even realize the irony. I actually don't remember anyone posting tiktoks on this site before you, yet you'd be the first to say something is evil if you can politicize it and link it to China. All of the major American apps were ridiculously hands off for a decent period of time until they were literally shamed and forced into policing their sites more aggressively, largely because of the way conservatives used them. Look at your own posting history. How many times have you posted dodgy "BREAKING NEWS" that you found on facebook that originated from a shitty free wordpress page that only has about 3 weeks worth of articles? When I was more active on the political board, it was practically a daily occurrence. If I went through your posting history, I have no doubt that I'd find at least one bullshit story sourced from a two month old blog posted by you within the last 30 days.

I think it's unlikely. Zuckerberg is obsessive about his public image. I'm sure you've seen the two competing memes floating around (or maybe not- maybe you don't use social media?) of Zuck wearing plain grey tees and driving inexpensive cars that state this is why the rich stay rich. The other one pointing out how expensive the shit he's wearing actually is stating this is how hard rich people work to look average. There was a lawsuit filed recently that revealed facebook was under investigation for privacy violations a few years ago and there was enough evidence to fine Zuckerberg personally. The corporate and personal fines would have been approx $100m. Zuckerberg had the facebook board make a deal with the FTC to overpay nearly $5 BILLION if they agreed not to name Zuckerberg personally in the investigation. This type of money is nothing in that sphere and, honestly, what regular person would even make the distinction, but if he's willing to go through that type of trouble, how likely is it that he would be complicit in dragging his name through the mud in a much higher profile way? Facebook is a media and technology company, not the mafia or a totalitarian regime (no matter how badly some want to pretend that it "basically is"). The worst any government investigation is going to bring is some bad press and some fines that will have virtually no impact on his pockets.

As for the whistle blower, she leaked the docs to the press FIRST, set up the interview, THEN filed a complaint with the SEC. And the SEC pays big bucks to whistleblowers. One whistleblower recently got over $100 million.  (I've seen speculation that her choosing to go to the press was in response to the investigation I mentioned above.)  Despite the meme above, I don't think whistleblowing is only valid if she completely destroys her life. Even the idea that Zuckerberg orchestrated the downtime seems unlikely to me. The predominant theories seem to be that the downtime was either to stop people from discussing the story or to show people how central facebook products are to their lives. I don't know about the latter, but literally every story that covered the downtime mentioned the whistleblower allegations and, from my perspective, made the story much bigger than it would have been without it.
