NFTs are a scam.  Anything digital can be copied, cloned, or reproduced.  You won't need an NFT to have a "digital online image that people see."

You're still thinking of the 2017 version of NFTs. Yeah the digital art and images stuff was BS, but that doesn't even scratch the surface.

Explain to me, then, how it's not a scam.

As an "identifier", any encryption key seems much more useful.  These companies are using "NFT" as something interchangeable with "identifier"/"username."  It's pathetic.  Just another way to squeeze money out of normies without producing anything.

So... What's the point?

bah I dont get it
does it mean the real world will be complete shit and we live with these goggles on or something?

The metaverse will just be another leisure activity for consumers to spend their money on. Targetted advertising will probably be huge.

This one however will be more self contained, a close replica of the real world, so more time (and money) will be spent in that environment by some.

How is it a scam? No one is forcing you to buy anything.

Someone provides content and you decide if you want to pay the asking rate for it.

So since the US is going to shit, create a meta universe. Got it. How green are the VR goggles and are they resistant to inflation and not made from carcinogenic plastics? I’d also like to know if they were made by a diverse group of transgenders that that were properly identified by their chosen pronouns.

Tracking, control, data mining, target advertising, replacement of real living/success/wealth.
