Question from a dumb guy  regarding this present homeless situation.

We recently offered some 'extra home space' to an individual who is genuinely out of luck and has been living in a nearby park.

No need to provide further details but here's the question ......
 
Is  any GetBigger aware of  a federal or state-wide (Nevada) program that offers some financial assistance to households who offer street-peeps a place to stay?

And ..... Have any of you GetBiggers ever been homeless or even in a situation in which you were unable to enjoy three square meals a day?

And one more somewhat unrelated question .... Has anyone on this board been on either end of a loaded weapon during a hostile situation?

When I was a kid.  My siblings and I loved the weekends because we stayed with our grandparents and got three square a day.  Also back then, some neighborhood jackball pointed his gun at me for fun.

When I was closing a martial arts school for the night in Long Beach, CA someone shot out one of the front windows.  This was in ’93 or so.

Not a gun, as such, but many moons ago we escorted a gentleman out of the casino, and he returned with a loaded and cocked crossbow.  Proceeded to wave it in all of our faces for a few seconds (which felt like minutes) before thinking better of it and clearing off when someone shouted from inside that they'd called the police*.  I know nothing about bows, but it was one of this type of thing - wooden style

Have to admit training there doesn't have the same appeal that it has historically, i do usually train there when i pass through just for old times sake, preferred the 90s when there was worlds. powerhouse and golds all within walking distance of each other. Try to avoid California as a whole just a woke mess these days.

golds venice used to be the place to train because it was where everyone went, hence it was where the photographers and writers were, and it was the place to be seen and get some publicity in the magazines... these days, anyone, anywhere, in any gym worldwide can get 'press' and be seen.

there's no longer a need to head to one particular place to be seen and hopefully discovered. i doubt the owners of golds saw this back in 03 when everything started changing, but in hindsight, they made the right business decision.

these days, the only place that has any of the majestic pull of mecca, is kuwait.
