People I know are beaking how excited they are for Dexter Season 9 and Yellowstone Sunday night. Rarbg has the torrents already and I watched Dexter.  Its free, early and always there. Why do people pay for amazon prime hbo whatever else when there are torrents? Tards

Because we're creatures of habit. I've been with Comcast since the early 80's. My monthly Comcast bill, which includes voice, highspeed internet, unlimited data, all the premium channels and sports, is obscene. I also have Amazon Prime....at least with this, I get free shipping on the stuff I buy. I subscribe to Netflix and Sirius. My grandson streams everything.

Stuck in a rut? And, I am used to watching certain shows which aren't available to stream. It is my primary source of entertainment, which is how I justify the expense. I subscribe to Britbox because there is a gardening show on it that I look forward to watching every Friday evening, Gardener's World with Monty Don.

I can download at 20 megabytes / second via SSL encrypted Usenet. No need to use VPN for that. That's megabytes per second not megabits per second.
20 megabytes per second = 160 megabits per second. And I am sure there are some Usenet providers that have faster connections where you can approach gigabit / second downloads if you have a fiber internet connection. But you'll have to download to a SSD drive because a SATA drive will hold the speed back.

Fastest I have ever downloaded torrents is around 4-5 megabytes per second. A movie can be downloaded in a few minutes on Usenet. I have downloaded 60 GB 4K movies in Usenet in about 1 hour. That's not going to happen with torrents.

If I had my choice I would scrap it but my wife wants to be able to channel surf. So I don't feel bad leeching movies and shows since I do pay for it via our cable subscription. We also pay for numerous streaming services. I share the streaming services with family so they all get to benefit and that way we get more value for money.

Free vpns are slow as fuck so you need to run your laptop or whatever for hours and hours, unless of course you don't give a fuck and don't use a vpn. Plus you need to leave on whatever device you've downloaded the torrents to if you plan on hooking it up to a TV.

Paying for a vpn just to torrent kinda means you're paying indirectly for content.

That's fast. I get around 950 Mbps up and down via symmetrical fiber optic. Symmetrical means upload and download speed is the same. With cable the download speed is usually 10-20 times higher. I am assuming you have fiber optic because cable can't deliver those speeds that you mentioned.

How big is that 4k film? Some 4k movies are compressed down to 15 GB or even less. That's pointless. A decent 4K movie file will be 60-100 GB in size.

If you were downloading at a sustained speed of 1 gigabit / second you can grab a 60 gigabyte movie in about 8 minutes. 100 GB would take 13.33 minutes. I doubt you would ever get that kind of download speed in the real world. Most ethernet adaptors max out at 1 gigabit / second. You can get a 10 gigabit / second network adaptor or faster but then you need an internet service that matches those speeds. And the service sending the file on the other side needs to match those speeds. You can have the fastest service available but if the file on the other side sits behind a 56k modem you are going to have to wait days or months to get it lol!

Also why are you even bothering to plug your drive into your TV? Just stream it over the network to a Kodi box like Nvidia Shield or Amazon Firestick 4K Max. Both run on Android TV and are great for watching 4K content. Just download the movie to a hard drive that's connected to the network, turn on your TV and start watching the content!

Many routers allow you to plug a USB drive into them and share over the network. Or you can share via your computer. The drives will go to sleep when you're not watching TV.

I did however manage to connect my network to my tv but one day it just stopped working. I have all of the movie files located in the drive I need to access on my laptop but when I select the drive on my tv none of the movies populate. I cant for the life of me figure out what the fuck I did wrong.

Yes the Firestick will be better to stream movies. Smart TV's usually have limited capabilities as far as streaming movie files from your local network.

You can get a Firestick 4K Max w/ remote from Amazon for under $100. Some recommend getting a cover for the remote because the remote is more than a new Firestick lol! However you can get third party remotes to work with them as well. You might also need a special USB adaptor if you want to power the Firestick directly off the TV's USB port. I tried it on a Samsung with just the USB included with the Firestick and it would not power up. However you can always plug the Firestick directly into the wall via the included USB AC adapter. When you add the Firestick Max to your cart there will be an option to add the accessory bundle which includes the special USB adapter. That adapter allows me to power the firestick directly off the USB port of the TV.

Then install Kodi on the Firestick. There are numerous videos on Youtube showing how to install Kodi on the Firestick. There are also videos showing how to share a hard drive or folder over the network. Then you can add a path to that shared folder in Kodi and have all your movies right there with no need to plug in and unplug hard drives.

Truthfully, I don't know whether it is fiber optic or not. What I do know it that my grandson and son-in-law who are into streaming and downloading via BitTorrent never complain about speed. I do occasionally get emails from Comcast informing me about copywrite violations using BitTorrent. It used to freak me out because I was convinced Comcast would terminate my account. But nothing I say seems to make a difference, so I gave up.

I hate theaters.  Loud ass people all over the place.  There was one nice one I went to that had a dinner service and would bring you drinks and dinner to your seats, which were large, very spaced out, and able to recline all the way.  You paid more but that one was totally worth it.

Nothing excites me. Nothing eye opening. Just repetition and predictable characters and storylines. These days I just prefer to just listen to real regular people on youtube or whatever media rather than some made up BS stories.

If you look back through time you'll see that there are only so many plot lines....7 basic ones to be exact. Life imitates art verses art imitates life. Supposedly, there are only 16 personality types....which results in predictable characters. So, what we end up with are sequels and prequels instead of something fresh and different. Though, I've seen some indie films that are pretty far out there. Sometimes making no sense whatsoever.

What is interesting is music/melodies are also finite. Although variety in music depends on several things, such as, length of melody, number of possible note combinations and rhythm variations making the possibilities seem infinite. And yet musicians and music producers routinely sue for copywrite infringement.
