Hey Vince, you're way off here bud. Everyone you mentioned has the means to live where ever we want. I know Soul Crusher lives in NY but not sure where, Louis or I don't live in major cities but all of us live in blue states. I happen to live in the most conservative county in California which is why you don't see the crime you see in LA County and basically told Newsom to fuck off. I chose to live here almost 35 years ago. I've built businesses, a family and now a grandson and 6 years ago moved my mom 8min from my home.

You're single, no wife, no kids and little responsibility that I can see. Moving from where I'm at isn't as easy as you make it out to. This isn't like a kid growing up in an oppressed, gang infested city where he/she is young enough to make that decision.

Maybe you missed the logistics of my post. It's not like we're not looking, we are but we are also not going to up and leave my mom who lives alone that's isn't willing to move. My wife parents are in Kentucky, her sister and aunts and uncles live in Garner, NC. Kongo has been trying to get me to move out closer to him in Austin, TX..hell, her Aunt offered to buy us new home if we moved to Guam. We have a ton of options

Actually, moving was very easy. I just decided one day I had enough of NY government and the lousy weather and moved a family and a business, leaving behind all  my brothers and sisters and elderly father.  Put the house on the market and called the movers. Easy peasy.
But you have to have crossed a pain threshold to do that. Sounds like you are below that level so no point in moving for you. I respect that.
What I am saying is things always seem to be a bigger deal in our minds until we actually do them. After we moved, my son's best friends moved from NY to SC in less than 2 years later, as well as their parents.

Dude, there is no such thing as settling down.  You are not a tree.  Even if i had a family,  if the place around me is turning to shit , then i would tape up some boxes and hire movers.  I know its a different case with your mom but wouldnt it be better to move her out to the country.  You know how nice it is to wake up and breathe fresh clean air, have no horns blaring, traffic, no stepping over homeless slobs or worry about muggers. 

I can leave my house for a week unlocked and when i get back, not an item would be stolen.  In Asheville, despite being a liberal freedom town, i was treated like a porch monkey...low wage job, being passed over for promotions by unqualifed glaciers because we were thought to be only talented with dribbling a basketball and shining shoes.
Then they gentrified a number of black neighborhoods and opened up art galleries and meditation studios in place.  The worse part is that the most racist people in Asheville arent rednecks but gay white people...they are the most racist folks out there.

So i left...simple as that.  I make 70k at my job, have a decent side business and live out in the country suburbs in the middle of nowhere

She has no concept of politics and literally gets her news from The View and local news, she's never had a computer and uses a flip phone. She knows the crime is (not where she's at) bad in LA but really doesn't get why. We have brought up the idea of moving and all she says is "well, have fun, I'm not moving again".

I moved from Houston to Sante Fe, NM a few years ago. Houston was turning into a cesspool, i have no idea why anyone would live there. It has good jobs, that's about it. Horrible weather, terrible people and ran by a bunch of Liberal morons. All my friends and family are there, well most of them.

Found a job in Sante Fe, packed up my shit and left. The company i moved to paid for my move completely and my first months expenses.

I now live in one of the most beautiful places in America. Only 80k people. Very little crime, it's quiet and people are friendly. I can go snow skiing and fly fishing the same day within 1 hour from my house. Live in the mountains 10 miles outside of town. It's paradise to me.

Should have done it years ago, but always had an excuse.

Only down sides are the job market for Engineering is almost zero, but i work for a company that is based out of Texas and i'm in there satellite office. Other downside is this is City is very Liberal, but it's all rich white retired people. So it's not that bad.

New Mexico is like Texas, the rural areas are all conservative and the Cities are all Liberal. It balanced out.

My parents are still in Houston, but they have a vacation house 2 hours north of me in the mountains. So i get to see them a lot. Everyone who comes here falls in love with it. But NM is a very poor and impoverished State, mainly due to how it's been governed the last 20-30 years. It could be Texas 2.0 if they wanted it to be.

No, but its interesting to see real life events instead of a movie along analyzing it. Despite being taken down in a surprise ambush, outgunned, and pretty much mortally wounded, they chose to make the best of their situation and fight it out like men with their guns blazing until the bitter end.  No-one will ever remember them as a bunch of pussies when they get buried.  You can also see the guy in white at the doorway directing the others what to do.

Great story Overload! I have always like New Mexico. I went there often when I lived in Phoenix.
I moved a business with me so a job wasn't an issue- and there was little high tech going on here 10 years ago. Since then high tech has invaded South Carolina. Kyocera just built a mega facility to make electronics and there are countless other mid sized tech forms moving here.
I just like the low taxes, beautiful weather and high % of right wingers, haha.
