The Rock’s Tequila
« on: December 15, 2021, 05:21:53 PM »
Teremana is god awful.   He got snookered on that deal.

You can’t even make a decent margarita with this crap.  It was created to compete with Espolon but this can’t even compete with Torada.

Espolon just laid the smack down on its candy ass.

Trying to get away from beer. What's a good sipping tequila that doesn't cost a lot?

I don't drink, so I can't speak on the quality of it, but it will probably be the windfall of his life. All of these celeb liquor brands are cleaning up.  I just read yesterday that Ryan Reynold's gin brand sold for about $600 mil. George Clooney's vodka brand sold for about a billion and the Rock's brand apparently had a record-breaking first year. That shit will probably turn him into a billionaire.

Also, there's  a decent chance he didn't even invest any of his money- just got a decent percentage as the face of the brand.

The left are going to use this guy has their Republican President is their plan.

He will push their agenda as hard as he pushes his shitty movies.

He was a good fake wrestler, but it doesn’t seem to have carried over on to cinema.

I think so too.  I hope I am wrong because Black Adam is an awesome character in the DC universe to add to the current stock if done right.

The Rock is way too overexposed. He literally wants to have his hand in everything and make money off of it. It's so cringe when he posts pictures of his cheat meals on Sunday, like anyone would give a shit that eats like a bodybuilder.

It's comical that he keeps playing the superhero muscle size game as he's nearly reaching the age of 50. Not a good idea to keep his kind of size as he gets older. No doubt he's been amping up the TRT doses for the last decade.

Still not one tequila drinker will tell me what's a good sipping tequila at a reasonable price?  I don't want to hear how you buy a $200 bottle every two weeks.  What is a good sipping tequila, Patron? I bet snobbery will label it crap.

I worked for the CRT(Consejo Regulador de Tequila) in the 7 years I lived in Guadalajara, basically because I was the one able to read and prepare documents that were in English for export. The office is in Guadalajara.  It is very unlikely that the Rock had anything to do with his Tequila in that to be called certain things, you have to have aged your tequila for a certain time. There also has to be a certain percentage of Blue Agave to alcohol ratio, there are MANY regulations to show a tequila is legit.

Reposado - 2 to 12 months
Anejo -1 to 3 years
Extra anejo - aged 3 years or more.

And several others like silver,etc.

Tequila is made from Blue Agave that comes from the town of Tequila which is a short drive from Guadalajara. Unlike many things in Mexican government, tequila is such a valuable export that the government is very strict in that they seal the oak barrels and regulators make sure the seal is not broken for 3 years if you want to claim you are selling extra anejo they will check. There are some cheap knock off tequilas that lie, or pay someone off, in fact Blue Agave grows in China and there are many knock off tequila's from China that try to pass off as legit and those are usually the shit one's.

So the first thing you should look for as far as quality is a seal that says CRT(Consejo Regulador de Tequila) because cheap ass tequila or even pulque(an older, raw form similar to tequila) are sold and are shit. To be called Tequila, it has to come from tequila, MX just like to be called Champagne is has to come from that region of France or they'll call it "sparkling wine" or some shit and try to fool you.
So the first step in a quality tequila is that it has a CRT stamp.

The next is what you are drinking the Tequila for. If you are making margaritas you may want something different than if you want to just sip it. They add different flavors or currents just like wine. But step one is that it has a CRT stamp. I would personally avoid any celebrity tequila in that because the aging process takes so long, and the Cartels launder alot of money through tequila companies and have some influence, the celebrity almost certainly has NOTHING to do with the manufacturing of a tequila. This is dishonest which is a red flag.

But let your taste buds and flavor goals be your guide. Price does not always mean its the best quality.

Not a problem. Btw, I'm not saying the Rocks Tequila is no good, never had it, I am just saying there is little chance he had anything to do with the actual manufacturing of it, probably knows nothing of tequila and that's often not a good sign.

Patron is rubbish. My friend just let us sample her $600 bottle of Gran Patron Burdeos Anejo and I wasn’t impressed.
Teremana is trash too...
A good and reasonably priced tequila is Don Julio 1942 Reposado.
The absolute best tequila in my opinion and also my friends who are well versed in tequilas is Vuelo. Even the lowest grade Plata is excellent and better than bottles costing 3x more. The Anejo is unbeatable. Vuelo is hard to find, but a bottle of the Plata is around $100 and worth every penny.

There is some talk of it in this thread :

http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=671437.0

(starts off with bourbon)

The absolute best sipping tequila I have ever  had is hands down Gran Centenario azul Gran Reserva.  Now taking into consideration the average person isn't going to pay that kind of price for it, the other typical tequilas you find people gravitating towards are :

Don Julio - has a fan club.  Decent for sipping.  Though I tend to find it has an aftertaste that is quite nasty and lingering.

Patron - crap tequila.  You can sip it.  But don't.  It is overly sweet and sickening the way it clings to your taste buds.  Can't even make a decent margarita with it either.

Casamigos Blanco / Casamigos Anegos  are great ones to start out with.  Get familiar with it and use your like/dislike of it to base the other tequilas off of you try later.

1800 Cristalino is great for when you want some clean but with a slightly more crisp flavor on the front end.

Someone else might can give you advice on the darker tequilas, I am not really a fan of them overall.
