I just watched a horror movie

Ok, GB Horror Movie Aficionados... trivia question here for a movie I saw about 20 years ago while in University.  Can't remember the name or how it ended.  The general plot is as described :

Group of teenagers (of course) goes to a carnival where they offend some moody as fortune teller / wish granter / witch / whatever.  She grants them all one wish that will come true.  Obviously, they don't think things through.

One wanted to be rich - he was maimed and paralyzed from the neck down in an accident that resulted in him receiving millions of dollars from the company behind the accident.  For nothing more than to lay in bed and stare at the ceiling everyday.

One girl wanted to be "hot".  She caught fire and was burned over 90% of her body resulting in a lifetime of endless skin grafts, pain, surgeries, peer rejection, etc..

One girl wanted some boy from school to fall in love with her.  He did.  Turns out he was a drug addict, woman beating, abusive, and eventually murdering scumbag that she suffered for years at the hands of until trying to leave him and he killed her.

One wanted to be a movie star.  Unfortunately it was a legit underground snuff movie that she was staring in.

You get the gist of it?  I know it was from Blockbuster back then, not sure if it was on the movie screens. Does anyone recognize this from my description?

SF1900 is probably correct  but any of the very many films and TV shows like this, are based on "The Monkeys Paw".

Just saw Wolf Creek 2 and it is much better than the first. The carnage is very well done. The intro is the best.

On Hulu I just watched : Haunting of the Queen Mary

The haunted ocean liner theme is not utilized as much as it could be.  Other than Ghost Ship and Triangle, there are no other worthy contenders.  The Netflix series 1899 started out great and had a lot of potential, but flounder before shitting the bed after a few episodes.

This was no different.  Great principle and concept.  Nice touches.  But it just flopped. 

Back to the drawing board trying to find the next decent horror flick.

Today's horror movies just don't have the same scare factor or psychological impact that the old ones do.  Maybe it's because we are numb to it.  Or maybe because every theme has been done to death.  In the 80s it was different because they were pushing the boundaries a bit more and studios and censors were relaxing the rules some.  But today it takes something truly original to catch on.

in the 80s i think these so called Snuff movies were around & stuff like "Faces of Death"
was a scene where a guy walked into a Board room meeting, pulled out a pistol & blew his brains out.

Faces Of Death was very good although a lot of it was staged. We thought it was all real at the time. Cannibal Holocaust was brutal.

There are some very good foreign horror films.

Yeah, it seems like a lot of foreign horror films are doing much better than what the US churns out.  They have become experts in slow burning the tensions and dread factor as opposed to the typical and predictable jump scares that are overused now days.

I can't tell you how disappointed I was about the parachutist that landed in the crocodile farm and THEY DIDN'T SHOW ANYTHING!!!
