The reason legs are not shot is due to the greater chance of missing and have the bullet ricochet and hit another person. 

Tasers and bean bags are not effective on someone high on drugs and having someone come at you with a knife is a think fast siruation, he could have slashed thrm and i would not have had them get that close

I got your point. Here our cops deal alot with people with knifes without using guns. I recently saw one video on facebook where they outsmarted the criminal btw one cop came behind him and tripped him. It was a nice ambush.

If they HAVE to use guns, they have to shoot one bullet in the sky to warn him ( it can fall down on someone and kill him but rarely do) then shoot him in the legs. Incidents where the guy is killed are like 1 in two years or something

I saw the video and the lady cop had a poor understanding of managing distance. You don't stand that close to the door unless you wanna break it and you have a team with you. Then when she dropped the knife, she didn't go ahead to kick it far away from the attacker even if she was close to that knife. Just poor skills.

They should start training them to shoot the legs if it's possible and get some well trained cops outside to avoid those bad situations.

It’s not a man or women thing, it’s how they’re (most) trained. If someone is coming after you with a knife or any weapon you’re not going to take them out in the leg for several reasons. 1. The target is too small and your chances of missing go up as does the threat. 2. Even if you hit in the leg you have no idea if that person has another weapon (firearm) in a pocket, waistband, etc) 3. A hit to the leg won’t stop the attack if their on drugs (coke, speed, hallucinations, etc) 4. Sometimes even a center mass won’t stop them right away if the previous (#3) exist.

Generally, bladed weapons pose a MUCH greater threat to law enforcement than do firearms. To effectively engage, with a gun, a hostile perp with a knife, over 20-25 feet is usually the required “time”.

Center of mass. Stop the threat. Period.
