we have relatives in Alnwick...

Nice place Alnwick and lots of great places nearby like the castle town Warkworth and the harthorpe and breamish valleys near wooler, I'm about 25 miles south of alnwick in a shithole town of bedlington

there are some real miserable places up on the east coast, we used to drive down going on the beaches with the dogs, some of the towns are really stuck in the past.

Beaches are great though, totally empty...

Other than the odd decent place most of the Northumberland towns are the same, ours is absolutely dire and has nothing but old people's homes it's literally depressing driving back in when you've been somewhere nice haha, Once you get north of blyth all you see on the beaches is dog walkers and fisherman, good for picking wilicks though, nobody ever does that anymore so you can come away with a sack full

Lovely place boulmer was my dads favourite beach to go he reckoned it was the best place around to pick wilicks, craster is nice but not much there and has no proper beach, seahouses also but gets busy and they que down the street for the chip shop. Going inland Rothbury is a lovely town was better before they built a load of houses and the golf course by the river but plenty routes to walk the dogs miles of wanted

That's Berwick, a nice historical town still has medieval town walls surrounding it in some parts, love towns with old stonework buildings and structures like those bridges

From above it looks like a peaceful and timeless town, where people are still greeting each other and where it's pretty quite on a Sunday. I've been multiple times in London, but I would love to see more of the English countryside.

Its a bit busier now as has two popular caravan sites but still really nice, those small country towns are exactly as you describe people are so much friendlier and always say hello in passing despite, it makes a refreshing change from how ignorant people have become.
