I agree with you regarding Chevy Chase but for me, early Steve Martin was pure gold. I'm not really a fan of silly slapstick humor but Martin's personality and delivery really did it for me. The first movie I saw was "The Jerk" and it had me in stitches. Same with "The Man with Two Brains" a little known flick that was hilarious. Sort of on the same lines as "Zoolander" which is still one of my favorite comedies. But these movies were back from the early 1980s nearly 40 years ago.
