The Maltese Falcon premiered in New York City on October 3, 1941. One of the very best examples of the film noir genre and the prototypical hard-boiled private eye, this was already the third(!) film based on the Dashiell Hammett novel of the same name. Featuring a great cast and a fascinating story that stays very true to the novel, The Maltese Falcon launched Humphrey Bogart’s career as a leading man and John Huston’s career as a director.
