They weren't very bright. They didn't even have the wheel and very few tribes had domesticated animals. The plains tribes would run buffalo off cliffs when hunting them. They could have just fenced them in and killed one at a time as needed.

But what i wonder is, why would "Crow" consider themselves different than for example "Cheyenne" since they lived so close according to the map?

I can understand that Crow would consider them a different people than for example the Olmecs in South America, but weren't most of the Native Tribes in North America pretty much similar?

Were there ones that were bigger/Stronger/taller/darker etc?

What made them decide , We are now "Crow" and not "Cheyenne"?

Like different families. They would also travel many miles to fight battles against other tribes who presented no threat to them or their food supply at all. Murder, rape and using captured women and children as sex slaves was popular for the victors as well. The history books portray these people as peaceful and in love with nature who suffered from the evil white invaders.

They are Crow, Tbombz, Arapaho, Blackfoot, Getbiggers etc, and not Cheyenne?

I mean, i understand they used different facepaintings later on, but let's say in the early stages?

Say he walked into a group of tents with people without facepaint.

To me it sounds like small villages fighting other villages.

WHy not just merge, they're practically the same anyways.

Crow and CHeyenne could merge and fight The Flatheads (i assume they had a distinct look with flat heads?)

The tribes considered themselves a completely different people from each other. Like different countries but they didn't have property boundaries so there were always fighting.

The Flathead Tribe didn't do cranial shaping like some of the other tribes in the area. Because they didn't have conical heads from wrapping the French called them Flatheads. Jeremiah Johnson's wife was a Flathead and she was murdered (and probably raped) by the Crow Indians and that's why Johnson fought them the rest of his life. Robert Redford portrayed him on film. The real story was better than the Hollywood version.
