It depends on the book, but with reading you become less of a drone whose life revolves around celebrity worship, changing genders, miscegeny, materialism, and celebrating replacement immigration.

You also have a ridiculously greater choice of topics and thought with books, not to mention the lack of commercials sprinkled in to further indoctrinate.

Also, in about five years, TV was able to gain public acceptance of guys chopping off their d1cks and competing physically against women, something books couldn't accomplish in thousands of years.
