Oscar-winner compared to the second one
The new one had terrible human characters. Of course, we got a steady dose of girl power with a teenage girl and another little girl leading the way for the rest of the crew. All the male figures were dunces who couldn't get out of their own way.
The plot was ridiculous even for a monster movie. Godzilla uses his atomic breath to carve a hole to the middle of the Earth.
He also has glowing eyes and spine for some reason. They tried to put elements from several Japanese Godzilla movies into this one film with the name "Gojira" for Godzilla, the skull of King Ghidora and a new Mechagodzilla. I guess the glowing Godzilla may have been an element of 1995's Godzilla vs. Destroyah where he is blasted with radiation and is over heating.
They way over did it with the CGI as well. Someone needs to tell these CGI guys that just because you can doesn't mean you should. I am sure there will be another out soon but I won't be watching it. Leave the Godzilla films to the Japanese to make as they do it much better.
