Homemade Workout Equipment Ideas.
« on: January 30, 2022, 09:37:54 AM »
I had an exercise mat in the house. I rolled it up, put duct tape around it and have been using it as a heavy  bag. I put it on top of a stool in the corner of a room.

You don’t get to do the footwork as with a hanging bag but for just throwing punches it’s great. It’s also softer than a heavy bag so I don’t even need to wrap my hands.

Easily the best idea I’ve come up with. I did a lot of boxing training back in the day but my hands are better than ever.

Seems like a way to be frugal and not buy something significantly better that costs more.    If saving money is more important than having good equipment then this makes sense.      This is like duct taping your bumper back on your car after it falls off after getting rear ended instead of paying a body shop.

I live in an apartment and it’s not practical to get a hanging bag. It’s more a matter of making the best with what you have.

Fair enough.    I recommend resistance bands.   They don't take up room and they work well.

Bands / TRX are great for space challenged areas.

An 80lb sand bag can wreck you though.

I empathize with the NYC space struggle, but even if it was about being frugal, why would anyone view that as a negative?

Get a fucking floor standing bag then or join a fucking gym again pillow on stool is ghetto as hell. You going to bring a date to an apartment and show her your pillow in the corner you pretend to box with??? That is not workout equipment that is a child playing pretend

I'm pretty sure the point of the mat is that it can be put away out of site when a visitor is over or he's not using it.  What does "a child playing pretend" even mean in regards to working out?  Working out is essentially simulating practical activities. If you can get a workout with it, it's workout equipment.   Weird thing to get so heated about.

I actually think there's a lower price point market for this for people who want to punch but not deal with hanging a heavy object or spend for free standing bag which I think is quite a bit more.  Any pics of the completed version?

It’s essentially this. What bhank is talking about, a standing bag, is very bulky. I can just toss this into a closet.

One improvement I'd offer to any of these is to duct tape a piece of cardboard at about mouth level to bite on while pummeling it.  Maybe another 87 cents

A grown man doesn’t seem to be able to tell the difference between a rolled up exercise mat and a fucking pillow.

What do you give a fuck anyway. Just worry about putting on your panties and get on stage.

The key is to wrap it around the door frame so there is something solid behind it to hit. You don't just hit a fucking 2lb yoga mat on a stool and lean it against a corner its going to go flying across the damn room the first time you hit it.

Why can't you put up a speed bag they take up no space and would be 1000X more beneficial than hitting a pillow propped up in a corner
