RIP

And, in fairness, it seems he died of cancer -- so it could very well be that steroids and kidney damage had little or nothing to do with it.  We won't know until more details come out. Until then, "where are the bodies" posting is misplaced.

Somewhere, Kevin Levrone is reading your post and thinking... "Did somebody say part time bodybuilder?"

Hahaha, this forum needs a “like” feature so you don’t have to post things like I just did. Awesome post.  ;D

Shitty way to go out. RIP Tom.

The PEDs killed his kidneys, and the immunosuppresants that he was on for life because of the transplant, gave him cancer (bad immune system = less ability to suppress cancerous cell growth).

I agree. I'd would want both a like & dislike feature. Also, would be cool if you couldn't see who liked/disliked your stuff. It would keep it interesting.

He treated his body like a chemical experiment in his youth and paid the ultimate price. On his way out he must have been cursing his younger, ego driven self.

Rest In Peace Tom "Trap Monster" Prince.

Good post.

We've had quite a few RIP threads for former getbig posters recently and they've all had some really great write ups like this. Getbig never stops surprising.

Eating meat even with cancer bad idea

Rest in peace , back in mid 90s he was on top with dorian and craig

With the passing of Tom Prince, does his death give you pause for thought to adjust any aspects of your life in terms of health?  If so, what would they be?

For me, it reminds me that even if we do change our lifestyle - it may be too late.  So it is better to not go down that road in the first place.  For this reason, I think a model of moderation veering heavily towards abstinence should be used.  I guess I've concluded that I would rather live a longer and much more boring life, than a shorter, but more exciting one.  I just think 52 is far too young, and that no matter how much excitement you can fit into those 52 years, that a boring 90 years would be preferable.  At least to me [I know that opinions will vary on this one].

How do you feel about that, Marty Champions?

The PEDs killed his kidneys, and the immunosuppresants that he was on for life because of the transplant, gave him cancer (bad immune system = less ability to suppress cancerous cell growth).

I briefly looked into this, and you are correct.

"In kidney transplant recipients, cancer is one of the leading causes of death with a functioning graft beyond the first year of kidney transplantation, and malignancies account for 8–10% of all deaths in the USA (2.6 deaths/1000 patient-years) and exceed 30% of deaths in Australia (5/1000 patient-years) in kidney transplant recipients.
. . .
"Malignancy is one of the most common causes of death in kidney transplant recipients [1, 2]. In kidney transplant recipients, the incidence of cancer is generally increased 2- to 3-fold compared with the general population [3, 4]."

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6007332/

It could be that he'd have gotten cancer anyway, but seems much less likely now.

Just for comparison, in this interview Tom Platz (5 ft 7) states he weighed about 212 lbs competing, and 240 lbs off season:

trulyhuge.com/forum/71.html

Compare that to Tom Prince like freaks who weighed up to 316 lbs off season.

And I don't think any of those nineties builders trained harder than Tom Platz.

I wouldn't wish that on anybody. If you've ever known anyone on dialysis. It sucks the soul out of most people.  Ive seen people on dialysis lose the will to live.
It sure as hell would make me lose the will to live. RIP Tom.

Being 300+ with huge muscles in your 20s/30s makes dialysis and an early miserable death at 52 from cancer while looking like a scrawny geek all worthwhile.

Who wouldn't make that trade?

I know ...  every time a pro bodybuilder gets a blood work  result that suggest that kidneys are stressed out due to the drug protocol " they've been under ....  they should take it seriuosly .

So much advise on here about What he should or Shouldn't of been doing.
We all make choices all through our life some good some not so,

Yes he may of lived longer without doing the PED's he did - Then again he may not of
& Been hit By A Truck at age 35.
When it's our Time Up - That's it off we Go.

How many here would give this similar type of advice to Michael Schumacher
Survived countless Crashes in F1 only to be Severely Disabled on a Ski slope doing

Stop with the wonderful hindsight advice.

I guess I'll drop a few lines about Tom.

I actually met Tom back in MuscleMayhem. He was a moderator there and I honestly felt that he was a bit of a fucking asshole at the time. He would drop very long replies and be pretty condescending to members, while also banning people he just didn't like. We bumped heads and I told him to go fuck himself a few times on the open forum. He didn't like me on MuscleMayhem, because we had a number of mutual friends on the pro circuit, which made it difficult to just ban me without people hearing about how much of a sensitive Prince'ss he was. Of course, the fact that we both had tempers didn't help the cause.

Then, some time later, Craig Titus and I started bumping heads on that very forum. Titus would pass himself off as a "tough" guy that would beat the shit out of someone if they got in his face. Well, I offered to publicly fight him at Victor Martinez's gym in NYC (this was back around 2002-2003). I gave Craig dates and times and Victor offered to make it happen for the two of us (Titus was well aware). Craig backed out (publicly - with Victor confirming it). After this issue with Titus, Tom sent me a message on MuscleMayhem stating how much he hated Titus as a person and felt that Titus was the scum of the earth for a multitude of reasons. As a result of that, Tom extended his respect and said that any enemy of that asshole was a friend to him. Following that point, Tom and I got along just fine.

I then bumped into him here on GetBig and we were cool, but I did tell him that I would troll him a bit for taking random shit WAY too seriously. So, of course, like many other heroes here on the forum, I made fun of his nude COLT picture in which he appeared to be hung like that of a light switch. He took it well and sent me a private message on here saying that I was an asshole, but that it was all fair given that he did allow "pictures of his jewels for the price of cheap silver".

Years later, after he suffered from renal failure and stepped away from the industry, I never heard from him again. Yes, I later saw the pictures of him looking as if he weighed 110 pounds, but I knew the reasons why and laid off the bullshit, as I knew the circumstances that led him to that end was a part of his life he never wanted to revisit.

I wish his family well as these will be difficult times. He was one of our own and certainly brought laughter to the forum in his own way.

Rest In Peace Tom "Trap Monster" Prince.

That may be true but to people like flex having all sorts of health issues, in and out of hospitals, this applies more. Of course I hope it isn’t the case with all these bbers
