I agree with OMR - Tom was quite the egomaniac dick type during the mayhem days (didn't he coin the claim that steroids were just the finishing touch? he certainly waged some war over that one, that I do remember).
I remember reading a thread during I guess a "fake bro" phase between him and Titus, where Tom posted that he would back up Titus in the fight with the UFC fighter. He deleted it shortly thereafter and denied that it ever occurred.
Regardless, you look at the the guy he became and you can't see much egomaniac left. Think the sauce just made him feel invincible.
RIP
Yes.
He said it in the "Precontest Bible" thread on Mayhem from 2004, back when it was on the Ikonboard software. The thread is not available on the Archive website, but Chad Nicholls told me once that he has the entire website archived, when I asked him on Facebook. If anyone knows him, he can confirm. And get to the origin of Tom saying that steroids are "1% of what makes a pro a pro", and is the "last place you should look", LMAO.
I just realized why I hold grudges forever - I DON'T FUCKING FORGET ANYTHING. I hadn't even thought of this. People have the memories of goldfish, FFS.
But yeah, that was the thread. Gosh...that was 18 years ago now. Someone literally replied to that thread and said that he highly doubted that pros talked about gear cycles in that book [a direct response to Tom Prince stating that the book covered some aspects of gear use that pros use, which the book patently DID NOT cover], and Tom got super defensive, and responded as I did.
So the dude didn't even say gear was the #1 factor - Tom said pros talked about gear in the book, the dude replied and said "I doubt they talked about gear", and then Tom said that gear is a small component of bodybuilding. The LEAST important component.
Also, here:

I DO understand why Tom wanted to downplay gear though...who wants to be told that they are only making progress BECAUSE of gear [and only because of gear]?
