Hey, WES! Off topic a bit here but .....Many yers ago when those Gummi Bears were first available, I bought a shit-load of them ..... and they sat of the kitchen shelf unopened.
But the plot thickens when a small group of us military guys and gals got thirsty while sitting on Waikiki Beach behind Duke's whee the alcoholic drinks were too damn expensive for us'n on a military payroll.
So I recalled that I had a large bottle of Tequila and a bigger bottle of Margarita mix as well as a huge 3 gallon thermos bottle 'barrowed' from some USMC messhall.
So I mixed it all up with plenty of ice and .....
I noticed that I still had a 'ton and a half of Gummi Bears on the shelf .... so I tossed them in for good measure and within the hour we were all enjoying military life, drunk as skunks on Waikiki Beach behind Dukes enjoying GUMMI BEAR MARGARITAS.
Years later we had a reunion at one of the high roller night spots in Las Vegas, only to discover that the special cocktail that evening was GUMMI BEAR MARGARITAS at $24 a pop!
Our GUMMIE BEAR were better and a hell of a lot cheaper on Waikiki Beach!
Thanks for the kick to my memory banks, WES!
