This is the why I'm confused.....take a look at the far east. You have Koreans, Chinese, Japanese etc.... but they all fall under the Asian umbrella. They are all Asians. Isn't being Jewish (Judaism)

I think ethnicity and genes are part of it. Jews have highlighted studies showing they have genes from the levant, they are proud of it. And genes can be used to acertain Jewishness as is done in Israel - DNA testing Jewish-claiming immigrants.

There is no evidence that Jewish people are a seperate race. Its a religion. Its like Christians, Muslims, Buddhists etc... claiming that as thier race. It doesnt work like that.

Both my 23andMe and Ancestry.com DNA compositions show I'm 25% Ashkenazi Jewish.  Would that reflect my religious background, my racial background, or my ethnic background?

Not really. A certain "look" you can apply that to most people from the middle east. Now you have to know that it isn't 2000+ years ago, and many people are of mixed race/genes these days. The original Jews were absolutely from the middle east. They were enslaved by the Egyptians and fought wars/revolts against the likes of the Roman's.

They are not a separate race.

You can be a non muslim and convert to islam and become a muslim.

To be a Jew you must be the child of Jewish parents.

You can convert and practice Judaism, but traditional Jewish law wouldn't consider you a Jew.
