In each one of those examples the USA had to transport every single thing they used in war 10,000 miles just to get to the fight.

Russia shares a border with Ukraine. Just drive right up to the border and crush that entire country.

Plus we did totally demolish Afghanistan but we decided to hang around another 15 years and that was clearly our mistake.

And the jungles of Vietnam made tanks very ineffective.  Not too many jungles in Ukraine.

That only happened after the US got involved and gave Afghanistan military assistance. Before we showed up, the Russians killed anyone and everyone.

Pro Russian areas in Ukraine were annexed in 2014 (Crimea and rebel areas like Donbas) The rest of Ukraine is pretty spilt. Can't trust the polling numbers entirely but the majority of the rest of Ukraine were anti Russia/Putin.

The question for me isn't is this a fake war or not. This was a calculated invasion, but did Putin miscalculate and assume the rest of Ukraine would welcome him with open arms and flowers?

It would explain why he sent a under equipped and poorly trained army. It would also explain why he didn't just steam roll through Ukraine because he didn't want to be seen as a conqueror, he wanted to be liberator. The longer the fighting goes on the more likely this is a miscalculation on Putins part.

Yeah reporting is shady, but there are things that are easier to verify.

For example Turkey has refused entry for 3 or 4 Russian warships into the black sea.

Why would Putin not have made sure they were already in place before the invasion went ahead? He could have easily said they were going there as part of military drills

This is no full scale invasion or anything close to it.  More like a wargame exercise. You notice that there is no battleground footage, just "smoke in the distance", vehicles rolling around, and a rocket hitting an empty apt building.
