Rapid chargers are the only viable option for mass ev usage in the United States. Just so you know, a rapid charge station (just ONE) uses 150 kw per HOUR. The average home in the US uses 1.5 kw per DAY. So just one charger uses as much electricity per HOUR as 225 homes use in a DAY.

Now picture every gas pump in your city switched to a rapid charge station, where each vehicle must park for about one hour per charge. We will need to more than quintuple our power generation capability and upgrade our transmission lines more than tenfold.

Any doubts in my statements just peruse google for yourself.

And pluggin those in for an hour each would mean you'd need to Sextuple at least the size of gas stations to account for the cars all being parked there at once (assuming cars are there for 10 minutes each now).  This would mean not being able to do it at most current gas places like mini-marts, convenience stores and corner gas stations where space is so limited.  Also rents for these places would shoot up.

Now try doing all of this with no nuclear build out, a war on fossil fuel use (specifically nat gas...which is clean) and a push for more wind/solar.

Not a future I'd like to be a part of.
