I can see that he had collars holding the weights in place. Scary. He could’ve let the plates slide off if the collars were not there.


Edit: I just watched the video. Not using collars would have definitely been the smart idea.

Alright, so...here's my standard for making a new post that I suspect may have already been posted here:

I check the full first page of the G&O. If I don't see it - I post it.

In this case, I checked the first TWO pages of the G&O. And I didn't see any thread on this.

Don't get me wrong - I could have missed it. I'm just saying that I didn't see it on the first two G&O pages.

That being said, if anyone can send me the link, I'll fix the problem.

I train at home but by god I have several racks and safety catches for any exercise that I could get caught under.Hell if I got killed under a bench press I might lay there a while before anyone misses me.Although my son has standing orders if he ever finds me dead under a bench press to slide another plate on each end of the bar then call the medical examiner

The trouble with the gym idiots today is that they dont respect the iron and have no conception of how heavy iron feels....I`ve actually seen a kid walk in off the street and try to leg press ten plates a side cuz he saw an experienced lifter repping it....needles to say he got fucking buried and he was extremely lucky he wasn`t hurt.

Back in the day if a guy layed down to bench 500 pounds the whole gym would stop and watch and yell encouragement to him.....camaraderie..... something that no longer exists in todays "gyms".

Anyway, nowadays if a guy is benching 500 pounds no one cares and you have twinks walking by him mid lift and bumping into the guys elbow while talking on a cell phone.

Back in the day this kid would have been killed and never seen again.

To cut to the chase...nobody today can comprehend lifting heavy weights cuz the kids all get together in a group and max out on 135 if that, with sloppy form and the spotter doing all the work.

I miss the old hardcore mom + pop type gyms where no dweebs were brave enough to pass through the "portals of pain".

I'm glad this wasn't a video.  Between that lady getting killed doing squats with 405, and that poor dude minding his own business doing flat dbells as some crazy fuckers smashes him over the head with a 45lb plate, this kinda stuff is just brutal to watch.

The thing that's really fucked with this pic, is that someone stopped to take a pic instead of going and trying to help him.  These phones and social have really turned people into heartless assholes.
