From what i remember he downsized and "retired" in like 2009. Got down to like 275 pounds.

Then came back a few years later and started gaining weight again.

His last PL meet he was 390 pounds.

Such a shame.

Enjoyed his posts.

RIP.

If you read this, grab a calculator, and jump on a scale. Type 2022 into the calculator, then subtract your birthyear. If that number is 40 or more and the number the scale tells you is greater than 250; seriously consider quitting all excess gear and put the fork down.

Too many people have been dying.

A regular poster here and strong as a bull. Competed over 400 lbs at one point but decided to try to get his weigh into the low 200s. RIP.

I always thought that was Dennis Wolf.

Mike Wolfe pre-dated that nickname from Dennis Wolf. Mike was on here in 2005, which was very close to when Dennis Wolf's pro career started.

But I don't think Dennis picked up the "Big Bad Wolf" moniker until 2007. You could probably track down a 2007 interview of Lonnie Teper interviewing him, and giving him that name. If I had to guess, that's where he got it.

As for Mike - he was born in 1974, I think. So he would only be 47, or 48 at most. That's way too young.

RIP Mike.

Mike's postings here -

https://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?action=profile;area=showposts;u=10118 .

It's sad, for those that don't know, he was a member of Westside for a few years, and was broken up about the passing of Louie. Now he passes. Rough few years.

RIP.

That is something else.

I don't understand - are there no symptoms, and people just have a heart attack, and drop dead?

It's just strange to me how this happens.

Oh brother.   :-\

I'm just wondering how so many men within our industry [Strongman, powerlifting, bodybuilding] can stay so heavy so long, without reading the writing on the wall. As a hyper-stimulated autistic, I can basically feel my heart beat at 55 beats a minute.

There's no chance I could get to the point that some of these guys got to without noticing problems.

Do most notice the writing on the wall, but ignore it? Or do some just go from feeling perfectly well, to dropping dead?

I remember in 2013, when top Strongman Mike Jenkins died. He was just feeling normal one day, and didn't wake up the next. He had only just turned 31. He was 6'6" and 390-lb, but basically went from being in Strongman contest form, to being dead.

Awful news…

He was a good poster and was a friendly  dude.

Didn’t he say he was a welder? I had no idea he was so heavy. Welding at his weight must have been brutal.

Lots of people ignore the symptoms or neglect to see a physician to catch problems early.  Dunno if that's what happened here ...RIP in peace to the guy

Agreed.

Everyone should plan their heart attacks around important events...like vacations, weddings, births, etc.
