Still need brake jobs, tires and some undercar care but yes, a drastic change coming for service businesses if the electric vehicle trend continues.

How will "right to repair" come in to play?

Most of the components will be modular I would think.

Everything looks to be very expensive to fix.

other than like oil changes

most of the vehicle shit nowadays is diagnostic - they just plug up the computer and see what error codes come up

no one is just popping hoods and looking at a 2011 Nissan Altima and telling you your intake manifold is bad, your O2 sensor is fckd and the PCM maybe going to shit - it takes a computer

You won’t have a right to repair, just like John Deere. You touch it, it’ll void the warranty and everything is coded so only the manufacturer or authorized dealer have the codes to diagnose the issue. Thus, there will emerge a black market of programs and diagnostic tools cause not many people are going to be happy with a 5k price tag to change brakes, etc.

It’s going to be a shit show because when all the electric rolls out the states will no doubt establish a safe driving program where you present your license and identification before driving to verify you are licensed and have insurance etc or better yet, check to make sure you’re not impaired by a computer system monitoring your eyes.
