They want to reduce the time on the Southern States show so they won't get out of there at 2:30 in the morning. Bob actually went out to guest pose at 12:30am... they are working on streamlining that show a bit. Largest regional show in the South. In Florida.
Florida is a hotbed for bodybuilding. Definately a bodybuilding state.
What is his stance on the new PDI event?
Vince tried it and didn't last very long. The NPC competitors are free to compete in the PDI or other organizations, but if they accept a pro card from another federation, they are no longer eligible to participate in the NPC. ACCEPT is the key word.
What about James, the NPC promoter that never paid off the athletes, including Darrem Charles, or their magazine. I don't understand Wayne DeMilias thinking for this guy to help out with the PDI. Is this is the kind of guy he is bringing in, we question whether he can keep his promises.
Wayne has said if there is any money from this, it would go back to the IFBB athletes and they would get paid. Just like robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Peter has been around for 30 years as a judge and a promoter.
His biggest concern is that the teen participation seems to be dwindling down. In the meetings, we make suggestions to get this back up. It is volunteers. We do it because we love it.
Bob has had the same conversation with Peter McGough, that the teenage divisions are dwindling across the country. One or two kids or none at many shows. The problem needs to be solved from the top. They have to be able to strive for something. The pro level needs to be looked at, and we need to offer more for them. The bottom line is selling bodybuilding is very difficult. The bar has been raised so high now.
There are no pros coming out in the 20's. Only very few. The average age of a new pro is well into the 30's. Need more recognition for these guys. Work on the teen division.
Wants to see more professionalism into the pro ranks. The guys that turn pro have no direction, they have no one guiding them in the PR, need to toughen up the product. Get more value to the dollar from the athlete.
