Steroids do not carry any penalties really. However, contrary to popular belief they are not legal to be sold without a prescription. But they are openly sold in farmacies. Supposedly there are sometimes crackdowns.

I read that Thailand is the first country in Asia which is currently legalizing "medical" use of marijuana. It's been highly illegal but use is rampant. My brother said the hotel staff had prerolled joints for him every time he came in.

In the western islands like Phuket etc it’s sold/advertised at the touristy bars.  “Mushroom Bar” “Marley Bar” and names like that.  I talked to one of the Bar owners and they said they just pay the local police off

Thailand is mostly beautiful, inexpensive, low crime, and absolutely amazing food so if you’re an online business mogul a la Vince Goodrum it would be a great place in which to reside.  When I went I couldn’t stop eating, everything was so well made and inexpensive.  Would love to go back but 19hr flight is brutal

Yeah a colleague just flipped his lid, sold up and went off on a world tour a couple of years back with just a rucksack - I'm talking a guy in his early forties, but no family ties as such
