My next door neighbor has a 3 bedroom 2 bath house...one with a foundation and no wheels...wasn't really too bad, just needed a new roof, had wood paneling...maybe about 20-30k in all for fixing it up. I knew she wasnt happy there and i told her that i would buy the place for 50k in cash last year...she didn't own the land so it would have been a separate transaction.

I get back home and found that she sold the place and i met my new neighbor. She said she couldnt pass up on a great deal.

She sold the house for 20k....20k for a 3 bedroom 2 bath house!!!!! And i told her 50k last year!!! Geez

my friend always used to complain about his mom and how cruel she was and i never truly believed him bc she always seemed so nice. until one day we went grocery shopping briefly with his mom after i stayed over one night and i saw her abandon her cart in the middle of the parking lot blocking half the road, and let me tell you, suddenly everything made sense to me in that moment

Just the opposite...rent out my place and fix this one up for myself. Just look at the place and ive been inside...its grimy but i would have gotten rid of the wood paneling.

Like the other posters suggested why not offer the new neighbour 30-40K?

Needs a new roof, appliances, kitchen and bathroom needed to be remodeled but some pre-made white shaker cabinets , quartz counters and bathroom sinks would not have cost much. Like i said...maybe 20-30k

Is it a common thing to own a house but not the land underneath it? You said it isn't a mobile home right?

I am and told her sister again as they came to pick up some stuff. But given that the buyers are already doing work on it and made a cash deal, i'm not counting on anything.

There will be others but it would have been nice to have it

Yea, its pretty rare but that was the reason for the offer.

You can have a house freehold or leasehold in the UK

Freehold you dont pay ground rent although if the government wants to build a road through it you are pretty much fucked

All the land in the UK is owned by the Queen and they will make you a compulsory purchase order
Also, anyone dies without a will and no relatives the property goes to the state
You think they may do the decent thing and maybe give the property to homeless veterans or such like, no, they go to auction to the highest bidder

I would have cuffed her to a chain link fence and beat the fuck out of her head with a thick club while my pitbull gnawed on her lower leg.....once the club began to splinter and break, I would have quickly gotten a long stiff cane and continued to beat her head in.......that would teach her to never disrespect a more than reasonable offer ever again in her miserable life.......the bitch.
