Based on this 2003 interview from Getbig Leader Ron Avidan, I would say YES:

https://web.archive.org/web/20041211112638/http://www.bodybuildingpro.com/cutler030113.html

Thread discussing that interview:

NO RONNIE WAS.

Also there are tons of old school bodybuilders lifestyles and regimens would have made Jay cry like a baby, and quit.

This 100%

Imho nobody ever has or ever will be more dedicated or work harder than Ronnie.

The list of others ahead of Jay is long....I would put him mid pack for his era. Bordering bottom to mid pack all time

So he was eating every hour then?
Or did he wait 2 hours after he finished to eat his next meal?

:'I think Dorian deserves some mention here.

Ronnie and Dorian were both dedicated and probably 2 of the hardest trainers to have ever competed. Ronnie may have initially outlasted Dorian in terms of competitive longevity but both of them destroyed their bodies training the way they did. Dorian with muscle tears and Ronnie's back.

 ::)

It was a dvd.

I’m sure a lot of what Ronnie did was to sell the dvd. “Ronnie ate this, used bbq sauce, lifted heavy…. all the night before the Olympia.”

Come on.

Do you think he would have shown up in better shape if he didn’t eat the fries and he cut his steak with scissors?

I’d say Ronnie. Worked a real job while bodybuilding until an Olympia win.

Back then Jay was boring. Typical bodybuilding day of eating, sleeping, training, and occasional errand runs.

I worked out at the same gym as Jay. He was a cool guy but there is no way he was the hardest working bodybuilder ever.

Do you think Jay would have beaten Ronnie before 2006 if he didn't have a triple meat burger with no salt and lettuce, and a bottle of water nightly at In and Out?

When you're on as much gh and tren as he is, as well as thyroid modulators, you'd be amazed how much crap you can eat

Nah. I don't believe that. Why the fuck show Ronnie go to the Outback Steakhouse three times or whatever, if he was truly dedicated to proper nutrition. Dude clearly just "ate whatever", and let his genetics to the rest.

The ultimate proof to that was when Ronnie was at the Outback Steakhouse [I think the second time], and looked at the chicken breast and said "That's small - maybe I should get another."

LMAO. YEP, CLEARLY A BODYBUILDER WHO GIVES A SHIT ABOUT NUTRITION AND PROPER MACROS.

Meanwhile Jay did everything he possibly could to keep himself in an anabolic environment - and I know of NO ONE who did more.

NOW - are you to interpret this threat title as a comparison of training styles? Then Ronnie wins, and it's not even close.

Or is it a comparison of nutrition and dedication to diet? Then it's Jay, no question.

I interpreted the title as being a comparison of overall commitment to the bodybuilding lifestyle.

"That [chicken breast's] small. Maybe I should get another." - Ronnie Coleman.

LMAO. Clearly the words of someone who gave a shit about nitrogen balance and giving his body the tools necessary for hypertrophy.

As for Ronnie doing more than shown on the DVD - no, no...I think the 17 times he went to the Outback Steakhouse in the DVD really said it all.

Disgusting Matt C level dedication to nutrition.

Please see the above video of Jay’s precontest diet of eating In and Out.

Ronnie was eating chicken breast at outback, is it that different than if he grilled it himself?

Also how much better would have Ronnie been on a diet of rice and chicken?

Great name for a restaurant.  ;D

That said, would Mitsuru Okabe have shown the same footage of Ronnie going to The Outback OVER AND OVER AND OVER, and just a grits meal otherwise, if Ronnie did much more than what was shown?

How many times did Jay go to In and Out? If it was like 5 of 6 meals, then I stand corrected.

I just get the impression that Jay was WAY more "Zane-Like" in terms of eating with complete precision, weighing everything, etc.

Ronnie basically made sure to get his 300g protein in, which was seemingly enough.

But back to my question, was Jay going to In and Out for half of his meals or something? Then I stand corrected, as I said.

But is the comparison here nutrition, or training?

Who's your pick?
Tom Platz trained the hardest, also Branch Warren, Johnnie Jackson and Ronnie Coleman

Jay was one of the hardest working not just because of how hard he trained but his consistency with his diet, training frequency, sleep etc. He was basically a robot not deviating one bit from his schedule. Ronnie was also like that. Which is why they were both at the top. I am sure Jay's discipline followed with his drug use. He was no dummy and did not fuck himself up like some of the other guys.

You made the comparison about nutrition.

Both of these were dedicated (trainers) but Jay said once he witnessed how Ronnie trained he realized he was going to have to step his game up if he was going to have any chance at beating Ronnie.

But to my real point, let's say Ronnie's diet consisted strictly of outback how much different would he have looked if he grilled the steak and chicken himself? How was Ronnie's diet not an example of dedication? Idk many people that could stomach outback 7 times in a month let alone 17 times.

Likely worse. Anyone here that’s taken GH, test, and necessary thyroid meds for when on growth can attest that you need to be eating clean and not clean food.

Ronnie wouldn’t just have chicken and rice at places like Outback and Bennigans but cornbread and other items. When I’d take growth etc I’d eat clean plus dirty. Piana used to eat ice cream every night. That’s all doable so you don’t end up flat.

Thanks for sharing this.

And that was my point exactly Ronnie’s was dedicated to his diet just as much as Jay was BUT the drugs made all the difference.

Ronnie and Jay are 2 of the best ever and of course they are also the most dedicated BUT I think Ron was more dedicated and if I’m being honest with myself idk what that really means.  I do think Mr. O’s are crowned because they are willing to go a little further than everyone else whether it’s diet, drugs, training…

When I think who got the most out of what they had I think of Dorian.

One person I haven’t heard named would also be the political opportunist Arnold.
