A healthy adult will have a strong appetite. 3000 cals a day should be no problem. The only time my appetite cut in half or worse was when I was lifting my heaviest reps 1-3, doing heavy static holds, or literally sick. Cut the weights dramatically, go for pump to failure, add plenty of reps and sets, move the weigh in a slow controlled manner and see how fast your appetite jumps. Stuffing yourself is very unhealthy and you'll feel like crap.
