I hope you heal from your injury quickly.  I'm no doctor but it might set you back 5 to 6 weeks while the bones heals.  Then it will be a fight to get back to where you were.  Just keep a positive mind frame.  It could be a good time to go cardio crazy for awhile.  If you can grip  with your injured hand do what you can.  Train lower body and do cardio.  You will be back and I know it really is hard to take.

Three months ago I ripped my bicep off the bone at it's insertion.  The bicep shot up to the delt. It also effected the tricep and delt some how.  When I came out of surgery I was walking fast on the treadmill 2 days after the operation.  After the cast came off and I was given a green light I started lifting super light.  I had no grip strength in the affected arm.  I started benching a 45 pound bar and curling a 2.5 pound weight.  It a slow road for some injuries.  I'm using 225 for benching and curling 75lbs now.  Considering the severity of the injury I count my blessings.  In July I hope to be back to real weights.  Take your time coming back.  Know when to push it and when to back off.

Good grief!!...In no way is Mighty Mouse's smashed finger anywhere near the severity of your injury.....I get chills thinking about my bicep tearing off the bone...OUCH....but he smashed his finger cause he was acting like a boob by dropping the dumbells...That is a pet peeve of mine I hate it when jackasses do that...I  had a dumbell bounce into my shin before cause some kid dropped em like he did....If you ask me he deserves what he got.

You should not be dropping the dumbells. Lots of bad things can happen when you do that. It is also annoying to others in the gym.  Learn to kick yourself back up and set the dumbells on top of your thighs, then re-rack them.

Should I drop the barball on the floor after I complete a set of barbell curls ?

Use a lighter weight if you need to..

Is your gym going to replace the 15-pounders you blood-spattered? Do you have to pay?

I was at the gym the other night and this douche next to me was on the decline benching the 45s and after each set was throwing them on the ground.  After one of his sets a dumbell he threw down started to roll toward me and he had to hurry up and grab it because I was looking at it like I was annoyed, which I was.  I just don't see why people think they have to drop the weights on the ground, because it does break them.  I could maybe understand if someone was using 100# plus, but not 45.
