I've been sober (after going to rehab) since April 12th.

I can't help but feel like I am staying sober more for my family's sake than my own. I honestly enjoyed drinking, although it ruined my health and severely effected my ability to work.

That's the biggest reason for me to stay sober. I don't want that money to have gone to waste. Before you ask....no, I did not have health insurance, and it wast my idea to go to rehab in the first place. Let's just say it involved an ultimatum.

Let's just say I had money and nothing but free time to drink myself to death. Now I'm working again, and have some structure back in my life.

Was it worth the 18,500?  Fuck no! At least I can rationalize it if I remain sober though. They said the number of people who successfully remain sober after rehab is like 5%.

These places are businesses, mostly collecting on people's insurance. Sure, you get out what you put in, but they bank(literally)on people continually relapsing.

They count on the 95% who don't make it.

Shizzo don’t rationalize anything, if you (or others) were able to quit on your own you would have. These facilities are designed to address your underlying issues, the why you drink and what options you have after you’re in that situation again.

Remember it’s a daily, sometimes hourly, battle. Take it one day at a time.
