Interesting factoid: If Trump and DeSantis decided to run together in 2024, one or the other would have to give up Florida’s Electoral College vote, which would be a huge loss given the size of Florida’s population. They can both run from the same state; however, the electors cannot vote for both of them from the same state (Amendment 12). Of course, Trump could move back to New Jersey or New York (and maybe keep Mar-a-Lago as a vacation home). I know first hand that Florida is strict on residences and will figure out where you are or are not. I can’t see Trump making that sacrifice. But maybe. Of course, it would be unwise for DeSantis to go along with this. Trump and DeSantis might not win, and if they were to win, Trump would probably end up just as unpopular the second time around, shooing in a Democrat rather than DeSantis in 2028.
