They both have high lats

Cormier is symetrical and aesthetic, not dexter.

Dexter has high lats, a /\-shaped lower torso (his trunk's so damn long), shady calves, and one of the most godawful mugs this side of a howard stern show.  But he can get ripped, and has a decent amount of mass on his frame.

Dexter did look more aesthetic in his younger days.

Do you have any pics to show this?  Genetic structure is not something which will change with age so I'm wondering what pictures you are thinking of.

In the late 90's , when he was overlooked, I thought he was pretty aesthetic.

dexter is the blockiest black man to ever compete. he's diced, never comes in flat, and has a tight waist, but has none of the lines we typically associate with the black dudes. compare his structure to chris or wheeler and the difference is just glaring.

Oh my, the gathering  of the 'high lats" watchers is in effect.  Dexter looks great! It's not about having 1 OR even 2 weak bodyparts, it's what you look  like when you put EVERYTHING together that counts! Geeze you guys have been on a BB board for how long and still haven't figured that out yet? WTF? Dorian had comparatively weak arms, Ronnie doesn't have great calves, Sergio had flat biceps, Zane lacked size ...but when you put all of their respective parts together along with presentation and conditioning, you have a group of deserving Sandow winners who were guess what? Not perfect. The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts......

Dex used to be a lot more aesthetic than he is now , but at this point its safe to assume he has taken his physique to the point where his aesthetics have been compromised , like many a pro , he went beyond his ideal weight , he is the same height at Shawn Ray and competes about 20lbs heavier and just as ripped , this is exactly what Shawn didn't want to do , to bascially become Dex and he was very effective at maintaining his phsyical integrity .

Check out this old pic of Dex pretty damn impressive.

Great pic, ND! He was definitely more aesthetic in his younger days. Now he plays the same game that numerous pros say they don't want to play.

but it is impressive because (like Dorian) the lat spread hides the taper flaws.

From that shot, it looks like his taper was even more odd than it is now, which is not good.  Looks like his lats look higher than usual.

with the exception of the bizarre dorian nuthugging, it seems like ironagers only care about the waistline. a bodybuilder could have a two-inch difference between his arms, no hamstrings, flat shoulders, and lackluster conditioning, but as long as the waist is tiny he's "aesthetic".  ::)

I agree to an extent. Low lats sometimes don't seem to have a dramatic enough taper if the bodybuilder is narrow in the shoulders. The other extreme is Dennis James :-\

excactly...high lats add taper, width, and make the back look more powerful. i hate low insertions because it doesnt look like the back is developed at all....aka tj schoenbern 9or however you spell it)
