THOR: Love and Thunder - Review
« on: August 17, 2022, 08:58:42 AM »
Got sucked into watching this by a friend who is a huge comic book buff, terrible mistake on my part.

For adults, I give it a 0/10. For children under the age of 9, I give it a 5/10.

They castrated THOR and drenched him in WOKE culture bullshit. They went ahead and made Natalie Portman, a female THOR. They incorporated 6-8yr old kids as superheroes that THOR needed to recruit to fight the villains in the movie.

The only good thing for me was that the entire movie soundtrack appeared to be completely sourced from the Guns N' Roses music catalogue. For that reason alone, I was able to sit through it without gouging my eyes out.

This is why I primarily watch  movies from the late '30s on and avoid most new films.  Thank you for saving me from self-immolation, brother.

I guess I just wasn't made for these times.

The stuff coming out of the movie industry really sucks now. I find less than 1/10 or 20 of the new films are even watchable. The superhero flicks are probably the worst.

Or did you pull a goodrum and go female?

No, no, nothing that extravagant.

Old business school colleague I met when I was 19. He is married with 3 grown kids at this point. Unfortunately, neither his wife or kids like superhero movies. He asked if I can go with him to "catch up" about old times after the movie. I agreed and regretted it.

Perspective: He used to collect comic books from decades ago. The guy used to have the Incredible Hulk #1 years ago and sold for over $250K. He has always been a little different, but I've kept him as a friend nonetheless. After the movie, he apologized for wasting my time, but we caught some good coffee and talked about Economics for a few hours afterwards which made up for it.

These actors must not care about legacy, as the roles they are taking suck so bad.

It sucks they went that route, because Taika Waititi did such a great job with Ragnarok.  Was awesome.

I tend to only watch films I have seen before nowadays

All new films have shit endings, you either have no idea what the fuck is going on or its an obvious part 2 in the offering

You ought to, even if the movie is bad. The fact that your niece wants to hang around her uncle is pretty cool!

The Marvel movies overall are really well done.

There are some woke stinkers built in, but they can't all be gems.

I need a plot, a story with twists and turns.

Best ending to a movie I saw in a while was Devils Advocate, also liked "The last Temptation of Christ"

Worst film I ever saw was Eyes wide shut, walked out the cinema about half way through.

Oh and slept all the way through the second Venom movie

Didn't care for either of those as well.

Think I skipped the second venom.

The really good Marvel movies were Thor 3, Guardians 1, latest Spiderman, Ironman 1, and maybe Winter Soldier was the best.
