He was a train driver.

He's probably collecting Ł185/$220 a week (State pension and pension credit top up) which isn't that bad if you've just done a 25 year prison sentence and now have minimal expenses.

That's actually pretty good.

Bertil's son said Bertil had never had the internet by the time he was incarcerated. I wonder if he will wander into it, or grant any interviews.

Also, has it even been verified that he was pardoned, and since moved back to the UK?

Found him! Guy is 67 now and still hanging on to some of his peaks. Ted Bundy would make a great Halloween costume. Have an arm sling and crutches while trying to carry groceries. And last but not least, a giant mallet in my back pocket for some late-night noggin’ floggin’

"Carried caskets"?

Either way, tremendous physique for a former casket carrying worker.

Arnold would have been head mortician.

Obviously filmed with a potato, but shows Bertils strength.

Crazy set. I wonder what he benches today??  ;)

Had a bizarre training style (heavy, sloppy) but was strong as f**k. (Warren / Jackson).
Im glad these guys didnt mess-up stripping the plates, could have ended in a double-shooting...

Bertil if True.

George Butler never told us Lou Ferrigno carried caskets at a mortuary in Brooklyn.  ???

Also Bertil's plate bitches were running like a well oiled machine there. It's kinda hard to strip the bar in unison like that at a fast pace. Those deep dish plates are still the best for film and photo work.

I didn’t, but I understand why you would think that. It might’ve been edited by Getbig’s own, Pamith

B. Hank was criticizing my form for doing the same thing with the dumbbells, by turning them to the side like that, as if it's to cheat the rep.

In reality, every video on YouTube of anyone doing seated overhead presses with 100- to 120-lb dumbbells has a lower range of motion than I use.

No one locks it out on the top, for example.

And if you compare how low they go at the lowest part of their negative, it is about as low as mine.

It makes no difference if the dumbbells are slightly tilted like that, providing you do a full range of motion.

What surprises me somewhat here is not the dumbbell tilt, but how far off the cadence is between both dumbbells. Regardless, Bertil was strong AF. He paid his dues, and whatever he did obviously worked for him.

Exactly which rep here wasn't deep enough?  ::)

https://www.instagram.com/tv/CdzEcekASYH/

Then B. Hank made this video about it, going nowhere near as deep as I was in even between my 5th and 6th reps, where I was obviously at my weakest.

Although the most annoying part was when that weakling Walter Sobchak made fun of my strength. Lol, a guy who has never overhead pressed anything heavier than the 50's making fun of my strength.

Here's the range of motion for my first four reps, all going to parallel or lower:

Here is my last negative, between my 5th and 6th rep. Even by that point in muscle fatigue, I still just about broke parallel.

If this was a squat, I'd probably get two green lights for this rep, which, need I repeat is perfectly.

Then B. Hank does a mock rep of my form, going clearly above parallel.

As for going as B. Hank does in that last picture - who the FUCK goes that deep, when pressing any noteworthy amount of weight?

There is NOBODY on YouTube pressing dumbbells between 100- to 120-lb going that low.

I couldn't find ANYONE who goes much deeper than I do, and almost NO ONE locks out.

So anyway, my form is perfectly.

But like I said, it wasn't B. Hank's video that annoyed me, but when that weakling Walter Sobchak called me a weakling. LOL, a guy who overhead presses 50-lb dumbbells max calling me weak. That's right.

Then Grape Ape - an ordinarily credible guy - called Eddie Hall's half reps here "no lock perfect form".

I couldn't stop laughing.

Eddie is strong AF, obviously, rendering complaints about his form useless, but admittedly, his form is garbage here:

The secret to bodybuilding is NOT form, it's the lack of form, meaning learning to not gaf about form, just lift, it's what worked for the most massive bodybuilders, Ronnie, Bertil, Branch, Arnold, etc

I don't want to shit on Grape Ape too much - he advised me on how to do a chest program that helped me stop my front delts from eating away most of my chest gains. My chest is going to be a weakness for me no matter what, but he was right about how to adjust my training.

My chest has marginally improved since then, but still sucks.

However, this:

No shaking, constant tension, no lock perfect form.

LOL.

I wouldn't consider this "perfect form" by any means, but when you are that strong, I don't think it matters:

When I get to the 110-lb dumbbells in a few weeks, hopefully everyone will STFU about my marginally insufficient depth.

Although to be fair...Grape later clarified he meant Eddie's form was perfect to achieve constant tension. However, my POINT is, very few lifters use better form than I do on overhead presses.

I'm just saying - my form isn't THAT bad.

And as you said, pamith - it really is about just doing it. Our form should be good enough to prevent injury, but need not be perfect.

People get bogged down in the minutiae of all of it, when they should really JUST DO IT, as you alluded to.

Great post, pamith.

I agree with the poster who said it is not form.  When you do things "correctly" you can NOT use as much weight.  that doesn't mean bounce weights bend back throw weight up etc. BUT use heavy weight is a slight cheating fashion and you WILL stress the muscles more. Do NOT worry about the little things like full contraction twist the biceps tilt the dumbells and all the other bullshit you read about from "experts".  Smh. Such crap. Doo you think any good bodybuilder pro or amatuer counts the seconds to raise it or lower it?  That one is funny as fuck.  Train heavy train hard train long and train often . Eat good sleep well and take steroids and you will grow. PERIOD.
