It finally happened; one of the bars in my walk-in closet failed last night because of the weight of far too many clothes. Now, there are stacks of jeans and kakis still on hangers on the floor of my bedroom.
The main reason I have so many clothes is because I never throw anything out unless it is ripped or stained. I am not a hoarder because I can't stand clutter. Some of my clothes are decades old. Like the suit I had custom made for my son’s wedding in 1988. I have maybe worn it twice since then. It is completely out-of-style. Nobody wears double breasted suits with pleated pants anymore.
The clothes on the floor will stay there until I force myself to go through them and donate the bulk of them to Goodwill. This will be a time-consuming process because I will undoubtably try each item on to aid me in deciding what to keep and what to toss.
There are times when I decide I want to wear a particular item of clothing and then spend a half hour trying to find it because there is so much to search through.
Which do you folks recommend for jeans, hanging them on hangers or folding them and putting them on shelves? I only iron clothes when I absolutely must because ironing is boring.
I will keep all the polo shirts.
