This pic, I believe is from 1956 which would make him 35yo.

I doubt it. He wasn't a big guy and was gifted with the genetics to be very lean naturally. 10 years later at 45 he was still just as lean and only a little smaller.

However, he does seem like tge kind of guy who may have used a little bit of gear if it were available. Wasn't he one of the guys who worked out at Girondas gym? If so, he may have.

Of course, Clint Walker is the peak of Hollywood mascluinity. 6'6", sorry Arnold, Sly, Chuck, Seagull et all.

Chuck Buchinsky may have been on some gear, training under Whack-Job Gironda.
If he was I'm sure it was the very small (1 dbol tab a day) which worked wonders.
(Rheo Blair protein and Nilevar tabs).

Bronson used to train at vince's gym. however when asked he said he got his development just from climbing ropes at home.

So, what year did D Bol become available in Gyms? Apparently, it became a thing in the NFL in the early 60s.

Earliest reference to a professional bodybuilder taking steroids was Bill Pearl in 1958 I think it hit the mainstream of bodybuilding in the early 60s and later into other sports

Hoffman knew about it, his lifters used it.
Bodybuilders from his gym would use it.
Word travels fast. Im sure it spread very quickly to the west-coast from York...

Still from "Never So Few" in 1959, it's a good film.

Not the best pic, but in 1959 GE held a contest where you'd get 16 silver dollars/lb for the closest guess of how many GE photo test lamps would equal Bronson's weight of #171 at 5' 8"ish. For those wondering, it takes a hair over 51,000 test lamps (no picture what type of lamp).

Dr John Zeigler created D-bol and was experimenting on York weightlifters with just test with not much success , John Grimek said he actually thought it hindered his performance but this was the earliest trials , then he created D-bol

He had a great tough guy physique even in the early 70ies but would fall apart quickly later on.
