International flights getting cancelled
« on: September 06, 2022, 04:42:53 AM »
Have 2 groups we personally know now stranded in Bali.

Bali is Ozzie holiday destination. HUGE tourism spending.

2 groups who we personally know and who have money, are currently stuck over there for 1 month. Their return flights were cancelled, airline said too bad. Both have money so it’s ok for them.

The takeaway message is do not fly internationally.

Cancelled due to covid?

Nope.

These people went on holiday for 2 weeks then were informed their return flights were cancelled and that no alternative flights were available for another month.

Bali is Ozzie no.1 destination. Well, up until now…..

So our Americans and Brits can better understand:

Bali is basically like a Mexican border town with slightly more nature (depending  on if you're in a rural area of the island) and slightly less donkey shows, although sex tourism is rife. It's main attraction is that it's cheap. You can go there as a working class moderate earner and experience things which you think rich people experience. Cocktails by the poolside, etc. It's a sort of Aussie white trash holiday haven.

I found the Balinese to be a bunch of financially unfortunate desperados, same as the inhabitants of Nogales. They'll dance for your nickles, if that's your idea of a good time and you don't find it repugnant when your fellow tourists congratulate themselves for providing a desperately needed pittance in exchange for dignity. The indigenous monkeys would absolutely and understandably like to murder you, however, so I hope you get off on forced fake smiles.

Tldr: Don't go to Bali. Bali sucks.

Same thing has been happened in the UK over the summer. Mostly budget airlines and it's mostly to do with staff shortages. Staff left or were sacked during the pandemic phase and then there was a huge surge of bookings without the staff to facilitate it all.

they are doing everything they can to reduce the amount of holiday flights.

Reason?
Because the future has no place for aeroplanes for the plebs(public)

Zero emmisions means zero flights, holidays abroad will become a thing of the past

Fair assessment.

Nogales is one of the worst places i've been to in Mexico. And i've been all over the place.

I've never been to Bali and have never even entertained the thought of going to Indonesia. Have heard nothing good about it.

This thread is interesting. My friend just got stranded in Mexico City on his way home from Peru to Los Angeles. Now he has to wait 3 days to fly to Houston and then LA. His flight information was approved and current up until the flight DAY it was cancelled, like 6 hours before. Apparently, a lot of Mexican Airlines have been doing this.

And another friend was in Guadalajara a few months ago, went to board the plane and was declined, they have been over booking planes to make up for cancellations. So he had to wait until the next flight, which caused him to miss two other flights and lost over $600 in hotel cancellations.

Fly Delta and don’t have yourself one of these problems. Or, buy into a jetshare and stay domestic.

We had a jetshare when i worked for big oil. Flying people back and forth 2-3 days a week from Houston to Odessa/Midland.

Was pretty amazing setup. No security or anything, drive your car to the gate, someone parks it for you. But that depends on the airport.

I typically fly United, due to having a ridiculous number of miles.

What i learned from flying in Mexico is that it is much cheaper, but there are more risks.

A flight from El Paso to Mexico City is twice the price as Juarez to MC. And the airports are 45 minutes apart.

That is, if you don't mind going to Juarez.

Yup. I was invited to a family celebration in Germany this month and declined because Lufthansa requires masks and the flight is minimum 13 hours long since they no longer fly out of PDX so there's a too long layover at O'Hare. I thought about booking passage on a charter plane airline until I read the reviews.

It might be easier hitch a ride on a dingy with a bunch of immigrants from a third world place like Thunder Bay, Canada. On second thought, what if Matt were on the boat escaping arrest for stabbing a policeman in the neck because he laid a hand on him for not wearing a COVID diaper mask. -Can't imagine what we'd have to talk about. Well actually, I can and that's the problem.  ;D

100% seeing this happen already with reduction of flights on routes, people will have to get used to it. domestic holidaying is a growth industry as a consequence, look at caravan rates and lot expenses in the UK, a fortune to stay at a shitehole

one big thing you are overlooking are domestic flights to area that thrive off tourism

look at the nonstop flights into Vegas, Florida, even United or American threatening to cancel if they can't get MORE flights into NYC

International travel may be a thing of the past or changing

but domestic air travel is thriving - the pilots know it that's why they are "striking" or canceling flights left and right - sure they don't have staff and pilots but so many middle class mf'ers fly now with the kids and all - I reminder 1994 flying form Elmira NY into Pittsburgh and then to Greensboro airport and NO ONE fly ESPICALLY KIDS back then around holidays - it ws easy as fuck to get on a plane

It`s a lucky thing for us that all getbiggers have their own private Lear jets.

I was gonna really try to sound like I knew what the fck I was talking about - but I know Matt’s teeny peckers worth about aero planes. Right about now I figure if I can’t get there on the ground I don’t need to be there. Used to love to fly but Getbig has enlightened me on just how fckn sick people are.

Oh yeh man - obviously I knew you knew and I knew that you knew that I knew about yachts. But I feel guilty with us just talking openly among the commoners man. Then again some of them may need work. I personally cannot keep good help. The little hottie that shakes my hog after I piss is my longest tenured. Yes - I have a hog not a 3.275” - “quantum cock” like you know who.

Domestic here still gets disruption but at least you are in the country.

Although I think people get hung up on the fact their ticket got canned and choose to battle with the airline rather than find a solution elsewhere that’s more expensive. When shit doesn’t go my way and I want out, I throw money at a solution and accept that it sucks.

One wealthy boomer friend of the family has a nice 60ft boat. Says boating is all going to shit because there is no staff at the marina. He can’t get things fixed or cleaned and it sits around gathering dust along with all the others at his marina. Reckons boomers are going to offload boats in the near future because they can’t maintain them anymore fit for use.
