This is not good news. So far where I live is not one of the areas scheduled to lose power.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Utility companies Portland General Electric and Pacific Power announced Thursday that they could initiate public safety power shutoffs for areas of multiple Western Oregon counties over the next several days due to the threat of high winds and extreme wildfire conditions.

Pacific Power said that a notice went out to roughly 12,500 customers between Linn, Douglas, Lincoln, Tillamook, Marion and Polk counties. The warning applies from early Friday morning through Saturday.

PGE's power shutoffs could impact even more people, an estimated 30,000 customers in 10 areas. The company said it intends to provide up to four hours' notice before shutting off power.

My cousin who lives in Santa Clara, CA posted on Facebook that it was 112° F today
with a photo of her trying to fry an egg on a slate step. Only the yoke cooked. So the saying, 'It's hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk' is bogus.

Some folks have solar panels and generators. A small solar panel array with only 10 solar panels can provide enough power to charge your vehicle's battery.

So now that your car is charged up and ready to drive, where do you go if there's no power? Wouldn't everything be shut down?

Be sure to have a solar array installed on your house if you drive an electric car...for emergencies...like a big earthquake.

You could also run a gasoline generator to charge your EV.  Keep containers of gasoline on hand.

Yeah, for around $8-10k.

Sounds like a great idea.

Oh, and don't try charging it more than once a week.

Yes, the output of home installed solar panels is not enough to do much at all.

Just make you feel better about yourself.

During the pandemic response there was about $30B (about 10% of the annual budget) in EDD fraud.  No Republican governor would have survived that scandal.  Larry Elder, a black man who ran in the recall, was referred to as the "black face of white supremacy" by the LA Times.

Collectively, we're a bunch of idiots who are fed Leftist pablum by the media.

I may have solar panels installed someday. This is very popular in my neighborhood. Chances are, I won't be buying an electric car anytime soon. My current car has a lot more miles left on it. I only drive a couple thousand miles a year if that. It is 78 months old and has slightly over 30,000 miles. These days, I barely add another 200 miles a month. As for a generator, I am more likely to get solar. Don't need both.

Worse comes to worst, I can hitch a ride in Tesla or someone's electric pickup truck. They are all over the neighborhood.

Don't be negative.

You could hook a generator up to an exercise bike and charge your car that way.

Having solar is one thing. Unless you have a way to store the electricity it generates, you still to buy it from the electric company.

Find a station that has non ethanol, or be a man and drive a diesel.

There was a time when $8-10k seemed like a lot of money. It doesn't buy much today. My electric bill runs around $200 a month and the big three major appliances, furnace, hot water and stove are gas. It wouldn't take long to recoup dollars spent for solar panels.

The roof on my house is 3,900 square feet. About half of it which is on the back of the house faces west and south.

I had a solar guy come over and as soon as they told me I’d have to cut this giant oak in my yard, I told them no way.

Solar isnt a good investment for many, mainly older folks.
After all the calculations, they (installers) told my inlaws it would take 20 years to recoup the costs.
They'll be dead, so not worth it for them to make the investment.

Sometimes install is free (so I hear) and for younger folks it probably makes sense.
Most dont stay in homes long enough to recoup anything though...
