Honestly, i thought about that for a split second. I remember reading some of your stories and It crossed my mind- just one timing this guy.

I was in a real good Donnybrook a few years ago in KW.  Me and a buddy of mine vs. 4 dudes. My bud saw one of these guys pinch the ass of a 12 to 14 year old girl. She was dressed like a fucking stripper but still obviously a young teenager. And my bud called the guy a scumbag. Turns out the guy was the old man of the three other dudes, who were all in their 20's.... so it was 4 on 2. My face got mangled that night but it ended with me choking one of the kids unconscious.  Just before he went completely limp I let up on his carotoid and told him to look at me. When his eyes opened I spit right between his eyes then finsished choking him unconscious.  (The fucker smashed me across the face with a beer bottle 3 or 4 times ar the outset of the fight before i got him in a fireman's cradle and dropped him on his fucking head.)

I`ve woken up looking unregonizable on many occsasions.....thank God for the natural pain killer tequilla.

I remember looking into  my bathroom mirror once and just breaking down crying,not because of the pain....I looked like a fucking alien,a worse looking creature than I was.

Spent last week here. I fucking love this place.  Been here at least a dozen times mYbe even 2 dozen but....

This year I noticed a proliferation of 45 to 50 year old white males, all with close cropped hair, brutal ILS, scruffy but trimmed facial hair and a complexion that is hard to discern between high blood pressure or tan.

Many of them just fucking scream TRT. Its pretty brutal. Its like they're coming off an assembly line.

Anyway me and my wife are at the Bull getting lit and im coming back from the can and this dude-fitting the above description- walks in (wearing cargo shorts, flip flops, tank top and sporting a super uniquely original tribal/barbed wire tattoo around his arm) walks in up to my wife and flexes his arms . I come back to the bar also in tank top and my wife tells him 'you'll have to do better than that cause this is my husband ' and the dude kind of gets a little shitty.

Anyway after a few rounds of drinks and bullshitting i ask him what he's on. He tells me, in a round about way, 500 mgs of TRT every week.  Plus anavar and hgh from time to time! ! He tells me his hair is thining so he's gonna switch to peptides for awhile then get back on a cycle of tren. He says he's 44 years old. The guy was fucking purple as it is let alone on tren ffs.

I start thinking: is this Brian Hankins? Because the dude was a little bigger than me- but not much- he's probably 5'11 and 210. So i was a little surprised at how much he was using only to be just a tad bigger than me ( even though he was 6 years younger than me he looked older) but the tattoos didn't match. It wasn't Bhanks. He pulls out his phone to show me pics of the stuff hes pinning. One of tge vials is labled "superman test". I thought you gotta be kidding me.

I know: cool story bro! Im currently sweating pure alcohol waiting to catch my flight. Love the keys. Plan on living here within the next few years. If i don't leave now im going to die of organ failure or AIDs,(there's so much twat down here...not that Id care with my wife here and all) so im flying out now.

Indeed.  It used to be a lot more bohemian, a lot seedier. It was part of the allure : wannabe pirates, smugglers, former smugglers, illegal immigrants from cuba and haiti (tbh seeing some of them make the 100 + mile journey in a row boat made me admire their American spirit), drug addicts/dealers, crossdressers and prostitutes. But it has become slightly more sanitized over the years; a little more tourist friendly/ somewhat more family friendly.

At this point Key West is no more Gay than anywhere else. Certainly not anymore gay than Portland.

However yesterday morning I got up early and walked over to the convenience store at about 7:30 am. and was immediately approached by a toothless Haitian prostitute.  She said in her (real female not a crossdresser though that was common 20 some odd years ago)ghetto pattois: ohh you a handsome white boy.Could you spare a few dollars? " I told her No, even though I knew I had a few dollars in my pocket. Before I could say anything more than "no" she interjects " for 50 bucks I'll suck your dick." So, I reached into my pocket and scrounged up three dollars. I gave her two bucks and told her to have a good day. She says "Hell, you so fine Id swallow too!" So I gave her the third dollar.

But it's "gay" reputation is ONLY "reputation" in 2022. Kind of a schtick that goes hand in hand in with a small section of town. These days gays are fucking everywhere so it doesn't really measure up as much of a mecca.

My mother worked in a department store named Kings which the Blacks and hippies from  American Interrnational College were burning down.....I had a mullatto friend named Frankie and we hopped 8 blocks of fences to get  to the scene a place called Winchester Square,......now called Mason Square.....I had to get my mother out of the carnage that was taking place.....motorcycle cops were crashing and molotov cocktails were being thrown......Dunkin Donuts was burning among other places......a cop saw me and asked WTF I was doing there.....I told him I was looking for my mother and I wasn`t leaving until I found her.....he told me they evacuated the area/stores and my mother should be safely home by now.....me and Frankie hopped those fences of those 8 blocks faster than a mutherfucker on the way back.

KW is a great place to visit, beaches aren't my thing but it's always good adventures. Also, the offshore fishing is incredible.

Panama City, FL is where i used to see all the carnage.

Keep Portland weird. Key West has better weather, at least in the winter while this neck of the woods is sopping wet every day, which makes one want to cry and that is fine because nobody would notice the tears. -Wouldn't want to be in Key West during hurricane season. However, it would be a fun break from Portland at other times of the year.

My mom who grew up in New Jersey loved the beach and spent a year in Fort Lauderdale after she graduated high school. She would often reminisce about the great time she had. One day she was approached while sunbathing on the beach to audition for Minsky's burlesque. She declined the offer.     

A cousin of mine and her husband are currently headed to Florida on their boat. In the summer, they live in Maine in a hundred + year-old farmhouse with a view of the ocean and spend winters in Florida and the Bahamas on their boat where they won't freeze to death. They say the keys are fun.
