Why would anyone need that much protein? I would think even Brian Shaw at 450-lb, competing in the 2016 Arnold Classic Pro Strongman contest wouldn't need that much protein, lol.
I actually think the pros' protein intake is good evidence that a high intake is optimal. If everyone settles at a certain range and the same has been done for decades it probably means science will prove them right eventually, like so many times before.
I haven't seen Shaw's diet, it's most likely out there, but I would bet he's been at a 1,000 grams of protein a day. Could be wrong but that's my hunch.
I remember Eddie said that before his 1K deadlift, the night before, he ordered a pound of animal fat with his meal lol. Wouldn't doubt it. Sounds nasty as hell but he was so goddamn swollen, so fat, so muscular that he was for sure close to death.
