Sorry mine was kind of half-assed post. What was in my head didn't make it to the keyboard.

What I meant was, athletes get accustomed to eating a certain way because they need loads of calories to excel in their respective sports. When they retire or semi-retire from the sport, many of them keep shoveling in the food and thus the calories, despite that their body doesn't needs them. I've seen lean male and female swimmers become bulky after they stop swimming. Same is true for runners. Bodybuilders like Chic, were used to overeating in order to put on loads of muscle. When the intensity of their training changes, they don't need so much food and yet they keep eating huge amounts because that is what they are accustomed to doing. You could say the Chic is in permanent 'off season' mode.

Another thing that happens with some bodybuilders is that when they are cutting, their metabolism decreases because they are in starvation mode. Do this kind cycle enough times and you metabolism becomes permanently fucked fucked up.

Consider this. Bodybuilding has, for some unknown reason, attracted plenty of people with names that are hard to pronounce. Enter Bob Chick, MC extraordinaire, who has the duty to learn how to pronounce all the competitors' names including all the females. A no brainer for meeting plenty of women! I can't speak for Bob - but I always got the impression that Shawn Ray was one of the few who truly retired from bodybuilding, meaning: zero steroids.

In 2004, Shawn Ray started working out again around the new year. By the time of the Arnold Classic, after working out for only seven weeks, he looked like he had been working out again for about seven months.

You'd think these guys could just stay on a TRT dose and downsize and still be pretty big...but there are not many examples like that.
