It was very bad here in Victoria Australia. They banned anyone without a vaccine passport from entering a shop. I know someone who left their job as they wouldn’t get the vax and then got another job. It was low paying as cash in hand. They then couldn’t get the tools etc because shops wouldn’t let them in. They banned you from even getting a haircut. It was so bad here. There’s a lot of very angry people.
Perth was shitty too. There's no easy way to say this. Australians are generally easy to order around. They're not independent minded people and they can't tolerate discomfort. To a greater degree than other Western nations, I think.
It was never going to be easy. I just have little sympathy. If you give the bully your lunch money, it's no good being angry at him later. The one who wouldn't take the pain (any at all) and did something he didn't want to do is right there in the mirror. Take it up with him. Maybe they'll take a lesson from all this but I doubt it.
I'm not saying we all needed to stand together or that they screwed me by going along. I don't care what other people do. Their actions aren't the basis of my decisions. I'd like them to reach their own conclusions and discover the fortitude to stand by them. So I'm not going to validate the "forced" and "no choice" claims they're making these days. They chose an easier path, which is perfectly understandable. I'd just like them to admit they're an easy path kind of guy, or perhaps that they were but won't be next time around, instead of claiming victim status and exonerating themselves from their own actions.
