The purpose of the Second Amendment was to allow civilians a way to counteract a tyrannical federal government. Look what happened in Cameroon where troops killed civilians. And before you say the USA is not Cameroon, the US final path to tyranny is not yet known. However, I would venture as the US becomes more corrupt and society collapses the government will start to impinge on civilians' freedoms more and more. And along the way, they will try to ban gun ownership. In their corrupt minds only their security forces can have these weapons.
