I don’t know any to besmirch the good name of Sally McNeil but has anyone considered the possibility that she may have played a role in Ray’s balding?

Maybe she put a undetected hair remover in his shampoo?

I know it seems like I’m reaching with this, but are really supposed to believe Ray was balding by 25 due to a genetic pre disposition?

If Sally was willing to take this man’s life surely she would be willing to first take his hair to cause him shame and embarrassment.

Lots of people start balding in the mid-20s. Using anabolics doesn't help matters, either.

How many bodybuilders have you seen shave their heads completely bald, after having a full head of hair just a few years earlier?

If she was in a relationship with Titus who would have died first?

I am neither.

Why would Sally try to shame Ray, when she nearly drove herself into poverty to help him turn pro?

Well they didn't show that in the Netflix documentary.... BTW do you have any link to that Flex interview?

Not at the moment. If you can find Medford, she has the pdf copy of that article that I sent her over 15 years ago.

Or, I might be able to retrieve it, if it's still in my PMs here.

Titus would have put this bitch in her place, he’s no simp

He wouldn’t need a shotgun, would have killed her with his bare hands

Ray tried to kill her with his bare hands but failed; Sally got the shotgun......you know  the rest.

Titus killed a regular girl; and he needed his swole wife's help to do it.

After watching this series I have to conclude everything hinges on reloading the shotgun and taking the kill shot, her self defense argument gets thrown out the window after that. I really hated that smug prosecutor though.

Good point.

She loved him so much she blew his face off before killing him.

She is the literal  definition of devotion.

Just watched the episode.  Sally strikes me as an obsessive control bitch that was frustrated that all she did for Ray wasn't enough to keep him faithful.

Ray himself wasn't very good as a BBer so at some point, they were going to have to face reality and then what?  His back and traps were decent, but other than that his arms and legs was weak.  And those pointy tits were developing much to fast.  You would have thought he would have had the gland removed.

He would not have won a state level show today with that physique.

Well, Ray McNeil doesn't exactly emote visions of Ward Cleaver with his cheating on her, slapping her around, choking her, and ramming her up the booty with his reportedly 10" schlong.

They were both jerks. Unfortunately, it's that cycle of abuse. Again, Sally's mom got beat up; then, it was Sally; later her daughter, Shawntina, got whacked around.

I wouldn't go that far, in terms of Ray as a bodybuilder.  I don't know if he competed in 1992. If he didn't, that means his rookie year was actually 1993 and he made it to the Olympia and placed 15th. That's pretty good.

As someone mentioned earlier, he beat Paul Dillett in the Heavyweight class at the North American in 1991. Yet, Dillett got a Weider contract shortly before or after he won the North American in 1992; whereas McNeil did not.

Remember that it took Ronnie Coleman a while, before he started to catch fire. Ray McNeil (wife-beater status, notwithstanding) had the potential to do the same. To put it in perspective, McNeil made it the 1993 Olympia; Coleman did not.

But, when you Ike-Turner your wife and get SHOT as a result, it derails your contest prep just a bit.

Lmao! This explains his perpetual use of headbands and other headwear. Come contest time, he was on edge because there was no way to hide the forehead support strap. Because of this 5 days out, he was a live wire. A loose cannon who needed to bust a Valentine’s Day nut to get his mind off the aggressive alopecia. I bet Sally said something about this that triggered the beating.

Sally McNeil claimed she paid $1400 for Ray's hairpiece.

From the FLEX article, October 1996, page 240:

"He used Anadrol with Winstrol-V and lost it (his hair) within a month. He won the North America, and a month later, he was almost totally bald. He flipped right out.

In the documentary, Sally says female bodybuilders should NOT use testosterone. Per the FLEX article, she only used nandrolone deconate. "I wasn't the important one; I got the leftovers" (page 234)

No one ever insinuated Ray was a good husband.  The man was a professional bodybuilder and everyone is saying how bad his physique was and he should have never been a pro.

My point remains,it’s not out of line to at least suggest Sally could have played a role in his balding.

If she held her legs together when he was going down on her that certainly would have caused some chaffing....

Nope. The story goes that Ray was gone and she was alone on Valentine's Day. When she found out (or suspected) he was at a night club (supposedly as a fledgling stand-up comic), she got dressed up to go see him. He got home and asked where she was going. She said she was going to meet him, because they should be together on Valentine's Day..

They started arguing; he started choking her; she escaped and retrieved the shotgun.....BLAM!!!!

He was cooking when she shot him

The police report said the chicken was still warm in the pan when they got there.

If by playing a role you mean wrestling schmoes to fund his anabolics use (namely the Anadrol and Winstrol, she claimed made his hair fall out a month after he won the North American title), you're right.

That, plus genetic predisposition, will do it.

How can you be a "bad bodybuilder" by winning the North American title, in an era where only the overall champ got a pro card?

You beat Paul Dillett (and other guys who later turned pro, John Simmons, Dave Fisher, Ray Williams, etc) but you don't deserve to be a pro?

Plus, he placed 15th at the Olympia in 1993 (the exact same spot Ronnie Coleman placed one year later). That ain't a "bad bodybuilder" by any stretch of the imagination. Most pros NEVER even sniff the Olympia stage.

True dedication would have been to cook and eat the chicken after she shot him so she wouldn't go 3 hours without eating at the police station.
