We hear every year (and I always ignore it), "This is going to be the best Mr. Olympia ever!" And every year it never lives up to the hype because of a weak lineup, a non competitive line up and or guys not coming "in shape".
Yeah, lol. This needs to stop.
IMO, bodybuilding is one pro career [I can't call it a "sport"] that has maxed out.
No one has yet to outperform Ronnie in 2003, IMO. Neither size nor conditioning has surpassed previous levels already achieved.
Not that I follow many other such things...but in MMA, the fighters are absolutely getting better still. In Strongman, there are events at local contests that are heavier than previous World's Strongest Man contests. For example, Farmer's Walk with 250-300+ pounds.
I can't speak for football or other pro sports, since I don't watch them.
I'm not sure if any hockey players or boxers have ever surpassed Wayne Gretzky or Mike Tyson. That's hard to say though.
A bodybuilder would have to be 320-lb with striated glutes at 5'10" to clearly outdo Ronnie's level of development.
If Big Ramy focuses strictly on conditioning, it could really be a look that blows people away. Derek Lunsford is perhaps even freakier pound for pound.
As for Ramy - honestly, I can forgive his back more than that lack of pop to his physique which I would assume is because of oil. I have no idea why any coach would have him focus on size. Just reduce his diet by one cup of rice a day, lol. But seriously, the man doesn't need more size.
If he nails his conditioning, things could be very interesting.
I'm going to see if I can get my passport renewed in time for the Olympia. It's like $700 USD to fly to Vegas and stay there for the week. That's fuck all. Vegas is very cheap if you don't gamble.
