I can confirm this. Heard him tell the story with Levrone. He was pumping up backstage with really light weights (even lighter than usual considering it’s Vince Taylor) wasn’t it overseas and John Brown was there with him?

Thats crazy. I've always thought the main benefit of working out the way he did was to be free of injuries 'no ego lifting'

A friend of mine just tore his bicep. He was warming up to. He's more of a fitness fanatic than a bodybuilder and definitely uses moderate weight.

I partially tore my teres major warming up with bodyweight pullups.

Ruptured fibers in the long head of my tricep warming up with a 40 pound DB overhead extension.

Tweaked my back really bad warming up with 135 pound deadlifts. My max was over 600 at the time.

Hard to compute.

It would be interesting to know exactly how Platz's tear differed from Taylor's, who their surgeons were, how soon after their injuries their surgeries were, and how their surgeries differed... if Platz even had surgery. Platz's situation was disastrous. On the other hand, most of Taylor's photos/contests with two normal, untorn-looking biceps are AFTER the tear/surgery at the beginning of his bodybuilding career.

the key to big 'looking' arms is small  joints and shorter limbs.

lots of 23 inch lean arms around that are not that impressive because the insertions and wrists are large too.

a nineteen inch arm with the right bone structure looks more impressive than a 21 inch arm with worse structure.

Very true. I remember Luke Wood claimed to have 21” arms cold on Milos’ board. They probably were around that size, but on his physique they looked small.

Same tear with same repair surgery doesn't mean the same end result. Take a look at supraspinatus reattachment surgery success stats, about 50%.

my old roommate had the same surgery as Vince and that bicep was better than his other one after rehabilitating it.
