Back in the days of the "Rat pack", when truly charismatic  entertainers, that were natural wits, they would have roasts that were truly funny.

The 'Roast' is a remnant of those days. But the entertainment is long gone. Every roast Ive seen over the last 20 or 30 years has been awkward. Not funny and weird.

Pretty much ruined his career.  At least derailed it. He was getting regular roles in movies- not good movies but movies with a wide release.
