Cliff notes?

Since plants cannot defend themselves like animals (running away, claws, etc), they have developed toxins that slowly or quickly poison animals that eat them.

Examples: poison berries, hemlock, nightshade, etc.

So, don't eat plants.

Cliff notes?

most plants contain toxins
Example, apple seeds contain cyanide

Most seeds contain some degree of cyanide
Almonds contain cyanide, 400gms of almonds can kill you

You really don't need to eat plants or plant derived foods.

Meat has lots of vitamins in it.

There's a lot of cyanide in leaves, too. Particularly laurel bush leaves which are far easier to concentrate to make cyanide with; especially in the UK where getting hold of anything is a ball ache. You may notice that trimming hedges in summer can make you feel light headed for no reason after a while on a humid summer day. :)

Yeah plants can be toxic as hell but our bodies are designed to handle them in moderation and actually build up immunity/tolerances from exposure. I guess that don't work for poison berries. Stuff like gelsemium, a chinese herb, can shut your heart down even as a fit healthy young man.

It's like one of those things: I like to go straight to the source of something and deal with it 100%... Similar situation to buying liquid drain cleaner for ripoff prices which does half a job compared to getting Caustic Soda direct and mixing it yourself for a proper job.

It has its uses, cyanide does for the garden/pests.

Also: you never know when your past is coming to catch up with you. Always keep some handy just in case those pesky human rights people come knocking ;)

Exactly,  Dr. Chaffee, Dr. Shawn Baker, Dr. Ken Berry, and Dr. Paul Saladino. These dudes spit the truth regarding nutrition, real nutrition not this shit these bodybuilders eat, cream of rice, pop tarts, egg whites and protein powders. Vince Gironda again was way ahead of his time, promoting liver or dedicated liver tablets, steak, and eggs, the real super foods of the planet.

Personalizing Protein Nourishment

Differences in protein digestibility among sources derive partially from matrix effects. Within a food source, other components alter the overall digestibility of the proteins.

Some plant foods contain anti-nutritional factors that decrease protein digestibility.

Legumes, cereals, potatoes and tomatoes contain inhibitors that reduce protein digestibility by blocking trypsin, pepsin and other gut proteases (Savelkoul et al., 1992; Liener, 1994; Friedman and Brandon, 2001). Cereal grains and legume seeds contain tannins (polyphenols) that bind strongly to dietary proteins and digestive enzymes, thus inhibiting protein digestion (Jansman, 1993; Jansman et al., 1994). Nuts, seeds and grains contain phytic acid (Lott et al., 2002), which chelates minerals such as calcium and zinc. As these minerals are necessary cofactors for digestive enzymes (e.g., alkaline phosphatase, carboxypeptidases and aminopeptidases), phytic acid in foods reduces overall protein digestibility (Ryden and Selvendran, 1993). Many legumes and alliums contain saponins, which form part of the plant’s defense system (Francis et al., 2002). These saponins reduce protein digestibility by forming saponin-protein complexes (Potter et al., 1993). Likewise, many plant proteins are surrounded by complex carbohydrates (non-starch polysaccharides or fiber)—often as cell wall components—that can impede enzyme access to the proteins (Duodu et al., 2003).

The abundance of anti-nutritional factors and complex carbohydrates in plant protein sources likely explains their overall lower digestibility than that of typical animal proteins.

Lead and Cadmium Could Be in Your Dark Chocolate

Consumer Reports found dangerous heavy metals in chocolate from Hershey's, Theo, Trader Joe's and other popular brands.

December 15, 2022

For 23 of the bars, eating just an ounce a day would put an adult over a level that public health authorities and CR’s experts say may be harmful for at least one of those heavy metals. Five of the bars were above those levels for both cadmium and lead.

That’s risky stuff: Consistent, long-term exposure to even small amounts of heavy metals can lead to a variety of health problems. The danger is greatest for pregnant people and young children because the metals can cause developmental problems, affect brain development, and lead to lower IQ, says Tunde Akinleye, the CR food safety researcher who led this testing project.

“But there are risks for people of any age,” he says. Frequent exposure to lead in adults, for example, can lead to nervous system problems, hypertension, immune system suppression, kidney damage, and reproductive issues. While most people don’t eat chocolate every day, 15 percent do, according to the market research firm Mintel. Even if you aren’t a frequent consumer of chocolate, lead and cadmium can still be a concern.

It can be found in many other foods—such as sweet potatoes, spinach, and carrots—and small amounts from multiple sources can add up to dangerous levels. That’s why it’s important to limit exposure when you can.

Some of the same concerns may extend to products made with cocoa powder—which is essentially pure cocoa solids—such as hot cocoa, and brownie and cake mixes, though they have varying amounts of cacao and possibly heavy metals.

The researchers found that cacao plants take up cadmium from the soil, with the metal accumulating in cacao beans as the tree grows. That’s similar to how heavy metals contaminate some other foods.

But lead seems to get into cacao after beans are harvested. The researchers found that the metal was typically on the outer shell of the cocoa bean, not in the bean itself. Moreover, lead levels were low soon after beans were picked and removed from pods but increased as beans dried in the sun for days. During that time, lead-filled dust and dirt accumulated on the beans.

Don’t assume organic dark chocolates are safer. In CR’s tests, they were just as likely as other products to have concerning levels of heavy metals.

fruit contains seeds, animals eat the fruit and excrete the seeds later, away from the mother plant, helping the plant to propagate and spread.

OK now do meat & dairy  ;D

I could be convinced that a diet of wild, 'natural' meat and animal products is healthy but the hormone & antibiotic laden stuff wrapped in plastic at the supermarket is best consumed in moderation

Dr. Eric Westman at Duke University has treated thousands of patients successfully for over 20 years for obesity, diabetes, insulin resistance, hypertension, infertility (PCOS), GERD, fatty liver, and other metabolic conditions using a very meat heavy, very low plant, keto diet.

His patients tend to be low income and uneducated, so they eat the stuff from the supermarket and even 100% beef patties from fast food restaurants.  Yet they resolve their health issues and their health improves on this diet like no surgery or medication could ever do.

Anything more would make this diet available only to the elite.
