Eggs..

..anyone else having trouble finding them? We usually buy in bulk (5-15doz at a time) from either Costco or Sam’s but they’ve been out of stock for the most part. Same with regular grocery stores but when you find them paying a lot? This goes for whites as well

same in the UK pal

Rumours are that the supermarkets are not paying the farmers enough for them and they are selling them elsewhere (possible food production)

find a local smaller farm, some may offer a csa box. You'll get higher quality ingredients most of the time for less money since you dont have the transportation or supermarket markup

We have 8 hens, get about 6 eggs per day. I built a completely enclosed house and run, self watering for the birds to drink and have feeders that I need to fill every 2 weeks or so. It is a very easy hobby with obvious benefits.

Finding them is easy. It's PAYING for them that's the problem. For some reason, here in Orlando, eggs are $3.50 (or more) a dozen.

I went to a store and got brown eggs which were (at the time) cheaper than white eggs. But, even those were $2.60/dozen.

Keep in mind that, less than 3 years ago, a dozen eggs were $0.85.

As for the eggses?  Do you have any "egg ranches" nearby that you can purchase direct from?

Eggcellent price!  Sorry...I was possessed by Vincent Price playing "Egghead" on the Batman TV Show.

Mcway Orlando is a good sized city but it’s not Southern California. As Coach literally said there are markets/stores out here that don’t have eggs in stock. I’m sure some of it had to do with the holidays, but even if they do have eggs available it’s a very limited supply. You’re not choosing between different sizes or brands, it’s only the what’s available.

And for perspective a dozen eggs at the grocery store out here is $5.99 (they are somewhat cheaper at Walmart or Target, if in stock, but it’s not like visiting either of those stores in Orlando, far less stock available).

I was in Epic ia Back is Back's  neighborhood this past week.

Pastured eggs at Publix / Fresh Market were in the $7-$8.50 range per dozen.

Eggland's were almost $5 bucks, way up from $2.70 when Biden took office.

I've read eggs are being hit the hardest by inflation.

Costco up here in assachusetts still has 2 doz organic for $7.50, but they limit you to 2 packages.

Supply where I am is ok but price is jumping every week.

Sucks because I eat a lot of eggs.

$5-6.50 at Publix for a dozen.
Same price for the 32oz container of Liquid Egg Whites.

Try a Walmart, they are usually stocked.  You can order and have it delivered in a couple hours as well.

BJs and Costco as well.

A year and a half ago 18 large eggs cost as little as $2.79 here in Temecula, CA – sometimes buy two get one free.
Now they’re $7.29.   Sometime most eggs are out of stock.

Haven't noticed a shortage here in NM.

The 2-3 stores i go to all seem to be fully stocked, except the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The cheapest dozen large white eggs are like $4.79, i think. The expensive fancy large eggs are $7-8 per dozen.

I get fresh eggs from a local farmer, two dozen a week for $5.

He used to sell them $1 per dozen 4 years ago when i moved here.

No, I have a gym in my garage.  One of my sons occasionally trains at Metroflex and competed in their first post-covid-19 PL meet.  It's a great gym, great variety of equipment.

Oh, and today's price for 18 large eggs is $8.99.  >:(

Wal-Mart is usually where I get my eggs and that's where a dozen eggs (large) is $3.50. Sometimes, I go to other stores (i.e. Save-A-Lot or two local stores, run by Spanish/Haitian people). At Save-A-Lot, their brown eggs were $2.69/dozen. I got 4 dozen before the price went up; now they're $3.29 but even that's cheaper than regular eggs there ($4.89).
